Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA-The UNESA KUMI TEAM consisting of Kurnia Dwi Cahyani and Mia Rarasyanti, undergraduate students of Makeup Education, Faculty of Engineering, won 2nd place in the beauty category at the International Vlog Competition Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality, which was held by Padang State University, on October 15- November 10, 2021.
Participants involved in the competition, not only from Indonesia, but also from Malaysia and the Philippines. On that occasion, the KUMI team carried the theme Fantasy Make Up Tutorial of Medusa. The theme is believed to be able to explore more and express more ideas.
Medusa is a Greek mythological creature in the form of a beautiful woman with snake hair. Through these characters, indirectly, KUMI conveys a message to the audience about the importance of maintaining an attitude when in a place that is considered sacred. "Because of Medusa's story itself, humans have turned into snake demons due to their actions, doing something inappropriate in a temple," said Kurnia Dwi Cahyani.
The idea of the makeup, it turns out, from their own hobby, which often watches movies and series. From that spectacle, they got a lot of ideas and put them in the form of make-up or make-up. Before the idea was executed, they first conducted a 'library study'. The process takes approximately a week. While the implementation of make-up and video taking takes approximately 7 hours.
They took part in the competition, apart from being a means of conveying important messages through cosmetology skills, as well as introducing UNESA Cosmetology study program to the international community.
KUMI, not only won the competition once, but also brought home the 1st place trophy for the Video Tutorial and Business Idea competition by FPP UNP. At the event, they raised the theme "Turonggo Yakso Make up Tutorial". In addition, in the previous year KUMI also occupied the position of 1st place at the national level Vlog Competition competition, Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality. The same competition at a different level, KUMI still comes out as the champion.
“Don't hesitate to join the competition, look for a team that has the same frequency, and pour the ideas that come into your mind through the competition. There is nothing to lose by participating in the competition. There's nothing wrong with participating in the competition. Don't be afraid to lose. Losing and winning is natural. Most importantly, by trying, we get a lot of valuable things," said the 2018 student. [UNESA PR]
