Unesa .ac.id Surabaya - Starting from the curhatan of a student at SMP Negeri 1 Plumpang Tuban who complained of difficulties in learning English especially basic English namely tenses and verb . The Unesa Community Service (PKM-M) Skim Student Creativity Program Team made observations to find out the problem points of the learning. One of them was by interviewing one of the English teachers of Plumpang Middle School 1 Vera Khairun Nissa.
in the interview vera said that not all students of Plumpang Middle School 1 Tuban had an interest in learning English most students experienced difficulties in understanding the meaning vocabulary and tenses besides that the use of instructional media when the teaching and learning process of English has not been done optimally because the teacher claimed to be complicated in making media and lack of time to make learning media and if using the media when teaching only paper is used.
From this problem the PKM-M team chaired by Tyas Rahayu Kartika consists of Ratna Rahayu Nengseh Nur Lujeng Kinanti and Eni Indria Safitri with instructor Albrian Fiky Prakoso S .Pd. M.Pd. created an SEM learning media (Verb Muter Tenses) as a medium for understanding basic English (Tenses and Ve rb) for Middle School 1 Plumpang Students Tuban.
Based on interviews with students the application of SEMUT learning media has quite good benefits. The students claimed to be happy when learning English by using the ANT media (Verb Muter Tenses) and they felt they were playing without realizing that they were also learning English besides that they had the power to be interested in learning English. The Plumpang Middle School 1 Tuban represented by the School Principal and English subject teacher also claimed to be happy and helped by the existence of the SEMUT (Verb Muter) media. The school also expressed its gratitude to the team who were willing to make effective and useful learning media in the process of learning English in SMP Negeri 1 Plumpang Tuban.
SEMUT learning media also became one of the PKM that passed The 32nd PIMNAS was held at the end of August 2019 in Bali. (why)
