Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA—Sub-directorate of Religious Moderation Ideology and National Defense (IMBBN) Surabaya State University together with Gus Dur's Thought Class (KPG) held a State Defense Seminar which was attended by UNESA students at the UNESA Psychology Building, Campus 2 Lidah Wetan, on Friday, March 8 2024.
Head of IMBBN Sub-Directorate, Rojil Nugroho Bayu Aji, S.Hum., M.A., said that this seminar was a joint plan to maintain and maintain the nation's ideology so that the values of tolerance and nationalism are maintained.
Apart from that, from this activity he hopes that the students who attend can try as hard as possible to ward off indications or threats of radicalism and extremism through Gus Dur's thoughts.
"From here we form individuals who can preserve values nationality across ethnicities, religions and cultures as widely as possible," he said.
Siti Sumriyah, Chair of the Surabaya Gusdurian Network, emphasized that this activity is not only about learning about human values. However, furthermore, this is a momentum for students to be able to humanize humans, as Gus Dur thought which focuses on aspects of pluralism.
TV9 Director, M. Hakim Jayli, M.Si., as a resource person in this activity, explained that diversity is a gift from God or sunnatullah, where humans are created differently to know each other.
He also mentioned that existing forms of differences or pluralism must be maintained and reconciled, so that they can coexist as a reality.
Furthermore, he explained nine Gus Dur's basic thoughts and struggles can be emulated by young people or students in particular.
Among them are monotheism, humanity, justice, equality, liberation, simplicity, brotherhood, chivalry and traditional wisdom. "Through this activity, "Let's keep Indonesia prosperous and fair," he said.[]
