FEB UNESA lecturer, Sri Abidah Suryaningsih delivered material about the importance of halal certificates for UNESA 'Bonek' students.
Unesa.ac.id. SURABAYA—UNESA through the Subdirectorate of Student Exchange and Academic Mobility (PMMA) held a talk show entitled Downstreaming the UNESA 'Bonek' Independent Entrepreneurship Program which was attended by UNESA BONEK students on Friday, December 6 2024.
'Bonek' or UNESA Entrepreneurship Bootcamp is a UNESA student independent entrepreneurship program consisting of 20 groups. They attended activities with the theme "Innovation and Creation in Culinary, Technology, Sport, Arts and Disabilities."
Sri Abidah Suryaningsih, Masters lecturer in Islamic Economics and Halal Industry, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UNESA was present as a speaker. He conveyed the importance of halal certification for entrepreneurial students, especially in the digital era.
He started by emphasizing the importance of innovation and creation in creating competitive products in the digital era. However, innovation and creation alone are not enough. Students also need to pay attention to the halal aspects of products.
"Halal certification is not only for Muslims, but also guarantees product quality and safety for all consumers," he explained.
Abidah Suryaningsih highlighted the global trend of halal awareness regarding hygiene and healthy lifestyles. That is why a halal certificate is needed, which can provide many benefits, both for producers and consumers.
For producers, halal certification can increase consumer confidence, expand market share and increase product competitiveness. Meanwhile, for consumers, halal certification provides comfort, security, safety and certainty of the availability of halal products.
Halal certification in Indonesia is protected by Law Number 33 of 2014 concerning Halal Product Guarantees. This law provides the legal umbrella for halal certification in Indonesia and guarantees consumers' rights to obtain halal products.
He invited students to be more careful in choosing raw materials and processing products to ensure they are halal.
At the end of the session, Sri Abidah motivated students to not only become successful entrepreneurs, but also to become entrepreneurs with integrity and contribute positively to society.
He also conveyed the opportunity for students to become assistants in the process of halal products, a profession that is increasingly needed in the digital era. He hopes that this activity can increase student awareness of the importance of halal certification and foster an entrepreneurial spirit in the digital era.
"Hopefully this event can motivate students to continue to innovate and be creative in creating halal products that are competitive in the global market," he hoped. [*]
