Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA—Indie Film Community Communication or Kofiekom, Communication Science Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Fisipol) UNESA held an Expression Screen: Chandikala Sinema at the Suara Surabaya Center, on Saturday, 30 November 2024.
Activity with the theme "Spiritualism Act: Space, Text, and The Other" and part of the 2024 Kofie Screen series that combines film screenings, acting workshops and interactive acting exercises.
Chief Executive, Valentina Indri Sallianti, explained that the Expression Screen is unique in providing space for participants to express themselves.
"Participants are encouraged to appear in cosplay of their favorite characters. This creates a creative atmosphere while providing direct experience of acting," she said.
This event was attended by more than 60 participants from various art communities in East Java. Apart from watching films, they also actively took part in discussions and acting practices.
"We hope that this event can enrich the participants' insight into the world of acting and make a real contribution to the development of the creative industry in Indonesia," added Valentina.

The acting workshop in this event is hosted Yusril Ihza F.A., actor, writer and director born in Kota Pahlawan. On this occasion he introduced the spiritualism theater method, which emphasizes the importance of full awareness in acting.
"This method invites us to be aware of what is inside ourselves, what we must maintained, and what is released in acting. Awareness of the text, space and role is the key to maximizing one's potential," said Yusril.
He added, acting is not just about memorizing dialogue, but also about memorizing dialogue. understand and convey the meaning behind every movement and words.
“When an actor is aware of space, text and role, they are able to present a more lively and authentic character,” he said.
As a series from Kofie Screen, This activity aims to appreciate works of art as well as inspire the younger generation to get involved in film development.
The highlight of the 2024 Kofie Screen event will be held on 7 December 2024 at Building I6, Fisipol, UNESA Campus 1 Ketintang, with various sessions film screening and work appreciation.
It is hoped that this activity can be a momentum to strengthen collaboration between creative communities and encourage the growth of new talents in the world of film.[*]
