Unesa.ac.id. , SURABAYA—Information Engineering Undergraduate Study Program Student Association (HMP-TI) Faculty of Engineering (FT) Surabaya State University (UNESA) collaborates with the Muslim Community of Information and Technology (M-Commit) held a seminar and talkshow entitled "Embracing Winter Tech: Struggling Innovation for A Better Life or Unemployed as Gen-Z Strawberry."
The activity which took place in Auditorium A10, Informatics Engineering Building, UNESA Campus 1 Ketintang, on Friday, December 6 2024, presented Arief Rachmansyah, CEO-PT Drip Rintisan Innovation Mighty. Also present were Alfatih and Anang Ma'ruf as founder M-Commit, Senior Mobile Programmer.
In the material session, Arief Rachmansyah conveyed various generational challenges in the technological age that need to be understood and realized. This challenge requires the younger generation to master technical skills and non-technical or soft skillss.
Education gaps are also in the spotlight, characterized by increasing fierce competition at the entrylevel, making employers (employers) have changing expectations which varies for fresh graduates, and there are challenges to adapt to new technology.
This activity was attended by students from across FT study programs.
This gap has a direct impact on searchers work, the phenomenon of overthinking which intersects with counterproductive attitudes. He presented the concepts of musayyar and mukhayyar to dozens of student participants present.
This concept provides an idea of which areas are outside the individual's control and which areas are under the individual's control. The context of control mentioned can be self-development, time management, and networking.
"In practice, if you want to master mukhayyar, you can start by training technical skills, soft skills, and relationship with God or spiritual growth ," he said.
The Head of HMP Informatics Engineering, Dawwas Inha Ulhaq, said that this activity provides an overview of relevant information for students, especially in the Informatics Engineering Study Program, Information Technology Education and Information Systems.
"This activity is intended to provide students with insight and an overview of the challenges we face so that we can develop our competencies and capacities according to the demands and challenges of the times," he said.
Moch. Fanny A said that this activity was motivated by concerns about the tech winter phenomenon, observing the reality of too many human resources graduating from informatics engineering which is inversely proportional to the lack of available jobs.
She hopes that this activity able to become a trigger for students, especially Gen-Z, in gaining insight into innovation and personal skills so that they can survive amidst the prospect of fierce competition for job applications.[*]
