Kediri- Celebrating World Environment Day which will be commemorated on June 5, 2021, Unesa Community Service Program students from Kediri City 5 started an action with the aim of growing the skills of the people of Pojok Village, Mojoroto District, Kediri City to cultivate crops during the pandemic. Carrying the theme of aquaponics by utilizing used goods to reduce environmental waste, this activity was successfully carried out on June 3, 2021.
Held offline and in collaboration with KRPL (Kewasan Rumah Pangan Lestari) from Pojok Village in the agenda, this activity was attended by more than 20 people with high enthusiasm. This led the Unesa KKN students in the Kediri City 5 group to successfully exceed the predetermined target.
The head of the KRPL of the Corner Village, Agus Riyanto, said that this Aquaponic activity was a good activity. "It's very good, maximum and many surprises from enthusiastic residents exceeding the specified target, even though in the pandemic season but still maintaining health protocols," he said.
The material from the Aquaponic activity itself was delivered directly by Unesa Community Service Group 5 students, Dewi Siti Rokana and friends on duty. Furthermore, the material that has been delivered is realized by the practices carried out by the residents. Enough with used bottles, water, and kale seeds as an example of one of the plants, residents learn to plant without having to worry about the land factor.
In particular, Agus Riyanto said that the community was happy with the Aquaponics activities and hoped that there would be a continuation in the future. “For this activity, I personally and the residents are very satisfied. I hope that after this there will be visits from KKN friends to see how the results of the residents' farming activities are developing," he added.
Great hopes are hung on this activity, one of which is regarding the strengthening of food security for the people of the Corner Village during the pandemic. Where residents who currently spend more time at home are trained to be more independent by getting used to growing vegetables which can later be used for daily life without having to spend a lot of money.(Git)
