Unesa.ac.id. SURABAYA—Social Sciences Education Undergraduate Study Program, Surabaya State University (UNESA) held a National Seminar and Exposure to Out-of-Class Lectures (PLK) in Building I6, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Fisipol), in a hybrid manner on 18-19 October 2024.< /p>
The activity, which was attended by UNESA Social Sciences Education Study Program students and UIN Social Sciences Study Program students, Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung, featured a number of domestic and foreign speakers.
The resource person in question was Ubong Imang, Head of the University's Geography Program Malaysia Sabah, and Yudi Krisno Wicaksono, PIPS lecturer at UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung.
In accordance with the theme, namely 'The Role of Higher Education in Achieving SDGs,' the two speakers highlighted the role of society and universities in realizing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). ) or Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Social Studies Education Study Program Coordinator, Nuansa Bayu Segara explained that this seminar is an annual agenda, the aim of which is to provide an in-depth understanding of the SDGs and the contribution of students in achieving them.
"Students have great potential to become agents of change, especially in the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program," he said.
This seminar is also accompanied by an exposure of the results of PLK activities from 24 student groups, who will present their reports in the form of scientific articles, posters, and PowerPoint.

Chief executive of the national seminar, Niswatin, explained that this seminar had an international feel because one of the speakers was invited from abroad, namely Malaysia.
He hoped that this event could be the first step to holding a complete international seminar, involving more students from various universities , both in Indonesia and abroad.
Muhammad Ilyas Marzuqi, Chief Executive of the PLK Expo, said that this exposure was part of the PLK results seminar conducted by students from the class of 2022.
The PLK activities will be held in Banyuwangi in May 2024, but was chosen to be exposed at this moment so that it can be combined with seminar activities.
"We chose the right time so that this exposure could take place optimally by presenting the results of their PLK after the seminar, " he explained.
Apart from that, he said that students' scientific work would be published in book form, although the publishing process was a little hampered by MBKM activities.
Lecturer from the UIN Social Sciences Study Program, Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung, Bagus Setiawan, emphasized the importance of collaboration between universities in the current era of globalization.
According to him, this collaboration is not only beneficial for lecturers, but also opens up new insights for students regarding the potential of various regions. "This collaboration allows us to learn from each other's strengths and weaknesses," he said.
Apart from that, he hopes that this collaboration program will continue to develop and cover more study programs, so that the benefits can be felt by more students.[*]
