Unesa.ac.id., SURABAYA—Hard work and commitment of all higher education leaders who are members of the Indonesian Chancellors Forum (FRI) to realize human resources Indonesia's competitiveness has received appreciation and support from the government.
One of the supports came from the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ir. H. Joko Widodo who often takes the time to attend FRI activities. He even held several meetings with FRI management at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta. On that occasion, there was a lot of discussion including providing direction for FRI to formulate a strategy to accelerate the preparation of Indonesian human resources.
This was emphasized again by President Jokowi when opening the XXIX Campus Convention and the XXV FRI Annual Meeting at Graha UNESA, Campus II Wetan Tongue, Monday, (15/1/2024). For this matter, the president even increased the budget for universities, including to increase research and innovation.

"The Merdeka Campus is still lacking, because frankly we are haunted by many things, because in my opinion campus independence is something that "It is absolutely necessary to be able to be creative and innovate," said the Chancellor of Unair.
There are many campus experiences where the results of selling their innovations have been looked at by the prosecutor's office, the Corruption Eradication Committee and even the BPK. Apart from that, many private universities are chased by taxes and so on, even though the income of the campus and lecturers is not much.
"Once again, this is our concern which reduces our sense of independence to continue to provide freedom of learning to students," he said in in front of President Jokowi and the ranks of Ministers of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet at Graha UNESA, Campus II Lidah Wetan on Monday (15/1/2024).
With the support of the central-regional government for the campus, it is an important part for FRI to carry out its mandate president to prepare advanced Indonesian human resources which will be accelerated from 2045 to 2034.
According to him, the road to advanced Indonesia is very steep, one of the keys is healthy, educated and trained Indonesian people, all of whom are focused on the world of education.
Making this happen requires strong commitment and massive togetherness and what is no less important requires strong leadership with a focus on education and improving Indonesian human resources.
Schools and universities must continue to be strengthened, one of which is through assistance The budget includes student scholarships, research and, no less important, to strengthen a climate that supports creativity and innovation for educational institutions.
Meanwhile, the new Chair of FRI (2023-2024 period) Prof. Dr. Nurhasan, M.Kes., also expressed his seriousness in continuing the previous FRI management program to support sustainable development .
The sports professor wants FRI to become a big house that houses all state and private universities in Indonesia and makes FRI the main locomotive for preparing strong human resources and strengthening innovation towards a competitive nation.
For Cak Hasan, in strengthening FRI's role in the future, at least 3K or commitment, cooperation and care are needed. These three things are the main points in ensuring FRI's sustainability, progress and competitiveness.
"To In the future we are faced with challenging global dynamics. "Therefore, according to President Joko Widodo's direction, we need to strengthen synergy through this forum to prepare superior human resources and talents to navigate increasingly uncertain global competition," said the Chancellor of UNESA.
