Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA-A total of 988 participants took the Computer-Based Writing Test (UTBK), the first session of the Joint Selection for State University Entrance (SBMPTN) at the State University of Surabaya (UNESA) on Tuesday, May 17, 2022. The exam went smoothly and safely. Based on the data, there should be 1,065 participants who took the exam in session one. However, there were 76 participants who did not attend the exam without explanation. In addition, there was 1 participant who was forced to fail to take the exam because he was late at the location beyond the specified tolerance time.
One of the UNESA UTBK committee, Awang Dharmawan, S.Ikom., M.A., said that the disqualified participant was from Bojonegoro. In order to take the test, he departed from his area to Surabaya before the day of the exam. He stayed at one of the inns in the Gubeng area. When the sun rose in the sky in Surabaya, the participant, who was not named, admitted that he was not fit enough, so he was undecided whether to take the test or not.

“Toleransi keterlambatan peserta yaitu 30 menit.
Participants Must Arrive Early
Based on this incident, Sukarmin warned the participants of the next UTBK session to pay close attention to the exam location and the distance from the residence or inn to the exam location. Participants must arrive 30 minutes earlier than the exam start time. Don't be in a rush and have time to cool off before the test starts.
“Equipment that is brought during the exam, prepare it at night and put it together in an easily accessible place, so that in the morning you just have to leave. Hopefully this will be the last one and no participants will be late again in the next session,” he said and hoped.
Sukarmin added, overall, the UTBK at UNESA ran smoothly and safely. There were no problems in terms of processes, networks, electricity or computers. From the supervisor's point of view, attendance was good and did not cut the implementation time. The introductory circulation is safe and enforced in one direction on campus. In terms of participant readiness. when participants enter, bring the required identity and comply with the procedures.
"Participants in addition to showing proof of test results and health certificates, also take body temperature tests and pass metal detectors," he said.
At the UNESA UTBK center, there are 44 rooms which are divided into 23 rooms at the UNESA Ketintang location, 16 rooms at the UNESA Lidah Wetan, and 5 rooms at the UNUSA location where in each room there is a backup computer unit if there are problems. The number of supervisors who guard the UTBK is 60 people consisting of 29 supervisors at the Ketintang location, 25 supervisors at the Lidah Wetan Campus, and 6 supervisors at UNUSA.

Checking the health protocols for UTBK participants continues and is controlled by the Unesa SMCC team, such as checking body temperature, washing hands before entering the building and using hand sanitizer before entering the room, changing new masks, and checking evidence of vaccines then participants are directed to enter the exam room. "We will maintain and improve these services," he said.
To ensure the smooth running of the UTBK at Unesa, Sukarmin explained that a week before the implementation, UNESA had coordinated with PLN and Telkom to ensure the smooth running of the electricity network and stability during the test. This includes checking and ensuring that cables and utilities that lead to UNESA are safe from rain, wind or fallen trees.
"I reiterate to the participants, come early at the exam location. Because I don't know if there's a traffic jam on the road. The earlier the better. Then, prepare the test equipment the day before. In the morning, just leave. Hopefully it goes smoothly and the results are as expected," he ordered. [UNESA PR]
