Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA - Strengthening domestic product innovation continues to be pursued by a number of parties and is part of the goal of cooperation between the State University of Surabaya and the Center for Research and Development (Puslitbang) for Electricity, PT PLN (Persero). The collaboration between the two was marked by the signing of the MoU on the 8th Floor, Lidah Wetan Campus Rectorate Building, Surabaya on Thursday, 23 June 2022.
The cooperation is intended to conduct joint research in the field of electricity, implement research, search for human resources and create products that lead to strengthening the innovation of domestic products.
In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor for Planning and Cooperation, Dr. Sujarwanto, M.Pd., said that UNESA has adequate capacity and capability in terms of research and community service.

With human resources (HR) and programs owned by UNESA, it can certainly strengthen the link and match with the business and industrial world (DUDI). "This discussion between practitioners and study programs around UNESA strengthens collaboration and great and innovative ideas are born," he said.
General Manager of Research and Development Center, Ir. Iswan Prahastono, M.Phil said that the dynamic development of this era requires PLN to move quickly and build multi-sectoral collaborations, one of which is with universities including UNESA.
Furthermore, he explained, the needs and demands of the world of electricity which continues to grow at this time need to be researched, developed and jointly found solutions between practitioners and academics. This collaboration is useful in producing breakthroughs to answer the needs in the field.
“Such as waste processing, for example, an idea from the community that we can finally use. Now with innovative ideas, we can use them to create domestic products," he said.
Currently, the Research and Development Center has made various innovations, including preparing a Research Hub application that integrates four aspects, namely; 1) LEAN, 2) INNOVATIVE, 3) GREEN and 4) CUSTOMER FOCUSED. This aspect is the common ground for academics and practitioners to conduct research as well as service.
“There is another example, electric vehicles. We were just crawling and being attacked from outside. Well, PLN is to blame. Hopefully, this collaboration can add benefits and domestic experts will emerge who are agile and responsive in creating innovations and being used in our own country," he said enthusiastically.
The signing of the collaboration was attended by the ranks of UNESA leaders, the deans of deans, the head of the department and the head of study programs around UNESA as well as a number of lecturers.
