Erlina Anggraini explained that continuing Chinese education is the dream of some Indonesian students. It is one of the right places for further study because of the quality of education, technology, and its impact on the world economy.
Not only that, Mandarin, which is the language of the Chinese people, is the second international language after English. China offers 6 scholarships, namely Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS), Local Government Scholarship, Confucius Institute Scholarship, Chinese University Scholarship, ASEAN University Scholarship (AUN), ASEAN-China Young Leaders Scholarship (ACYLS), MOFCOM Scholarship, and Belt and Road Scholarship .
For applicants who are not proficient in Mandarin, they can use English as the language of instruction during lectures. Scholarships available in China include teacher scholarships, inter-university cooperative scholarships, and independent scholarships.
For those who want to study there, of course, they must meet several requirements including, not being a Chinese citizen, physically and mentally healthy as evidenced by a medical check-up and a maximum age limit of 25 years for undergraduate level applicants, a maximum age of 35 years for master degree applicants, and a maximum age of 35 years. 40 years old for doctoral level applicants.
"The maximum age limit was not always the same, it depends on each scholarship program that will be taken later," explained Erlina Anggraini.
The preparations needed to get a scholarship are, 1) Strong determination. 2) Learn Mandarin. 3) Recognize and establish oneself based on the existing requirements. 4) Define targets. 5) Determine the strategy in meeting the target. For example, studying Mandarin for several months or semesters. Then fulfill other conditions within a certain time.
"The high pressure that I felt during my doctoral study in China was against the feeling of laziness," Ardhi Mardiyanto Indra Purnomo. The most important thing after successfully getting a scholarship is to keep sharpening and maintain motivation to be disciplined and diligent in studying.
"We will never know and we can if we don't learn. I used to find it difficult to live in China for the first time because I couldn't speak Mandarin yet,” said Aprilyan Putra Bimantoro. Mas Aprilyan explained step by step how to apply for a scholarship to China, starting from the opening date of the scholarship, preparing documents and registering on the website, to how to process the final documents to fly to China.
“Silence, stagnation, and settling in a mukim is not really a resting place for those who are intelligent and civilized. So travel and leave your country (to study and seek knowledge, ed)," he said quoting one of Imam Shafi'i's words. [UNESA PR]
