Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYAVisual Communication Design Study Program (HMP) Student Association (DKV) Surabaya State University (UNESA) held a talk show "Level Up Act 8: Get to Know Commission" which was attended by students and art activists at the T14 FBS Auditorium, on Wednesday, March 13 2024. As the resource person for the activity was the young UNESA illustrator, Dasril Iqbal Al Faruq.
S-1 Study Program Coordinator DKV, Marsudi S.Pd., M.Pd, explained that the illustration theme was brought up based on the high interest of DKV students in this field. He hopes that this activity can provide insight for students who are interested in pursuing a career in the creative industry, especially illustration.
In the material, Dasril Iqbal Al Faruq shared several strategies and tips for determining the selling price of work with clients. There are at least three approaches that are commonly used.
First, hourly pricing. Dasril emphasized the importance of considering factors such as creativity, skill and the time needed to complete a work. Hourly pricing provides great flexibility in determining the value of the work.
Secondly, the price is per project. In this approach, Dasril suggests taking into account the complexity and number of works or designs desired by the client. This will help in setting a fair price according to the volume of work.
Third, the cost per package, especially for clients who have subscribed. In this approach, clients will be charged based on the service package they choose, which can include various types of work or designs.

At the end of his presentation , Dasril advised consistency in doing things according to your interests and passion. "Before I sold works at high prices, I initially sold works for under one hundred thousand," he said.
This talkshow is important to strengthen the competence of DKV students and strengthen DKV UNESA's commitment to supporting the development of students' skills and preparing them to plunge into the competitive world of creative industries. [*]
