Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA-Failing many times in several poetry competitions did not stop Dian Nur Cahyani. The student from the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program (JBSI) continued to read and train herself in writing and participated in various competitions until she finally got an achievement.
She won the Zen 3.0 Indonesia Writer Community National Poetry Competition which took place on December 29, 2021-14 January 2022. In the competition, Dian Nur Cahyani managed to 'beat' 1,500 participants from teachers and the general public from various regions.
The student from Lamongan admitted that at first she didn't think much about whether to become a champion or not. Because, the intention is only to fill the time with positive activities while continuing to develop themselves through competitions.
For him, participating in competitions can inspire enthusiasm to continue learning, reading and writing. Even then, he got information about the competition when he was on social media. “Yesterday, when I was scrolling through social media, I got info, and then I tried to join. Incidentally, yesterday was still a holiday. I didn't know it and I was surprised that I won," he said.
For the competition, Dian Nur Cahyani submitted a poem entitled “Senja Aksara” which tells about the beauty of dusk and the lapping of the waves on the beach, which brings many inspirations to the audience. "Who doesn't like the atmosphere of the afternoon and evening, especially on the beach. It was the idea that broke my deadlock in determining the theme and the poem was born,” he said.
He admitted, determining the theme is part of its own challenge in writing poetry. Usually the theme is taken from the situation and problems around and sometimes from personal experience. In addition, time management. Because writing, especially poetry, requires special vibes and time. In order to keep her activities organized, Dian Nur arranges a special schedule.
The key to success in conquering the competition, he continued, is to study hard and read and keep practicing. In addition, also clever use of free time. Another important thing, namely support from parents, close family, friends and lecturers.
“Our spirits sometimes go up and down, so sometimes we need motivation from them, especially parents. I dedicate this champion to them," he said. He hopes that this achievement can be a motivation for him to continue to achieve achievements in the following competitions. "I am grateful that I can be a motivation and inspiration for others," he concluded. [UNESA PR]
