Unesa.ac.id, MALANG—Along with a number of other figures, the Chancellor of Surabaya State University (UNESA) Prof. Dr. Nurhasan, M.Kes., attended the Declaration of Safe and Peaceful Elections at Rampal Field, Malang, East Java, Saturday (21/10/2023). This declaration is a form of joint commitment from all elements in maintaining stability and security ahead of the 2024 elections.
National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and TNI Commander Admiral Yudo Margono were present on this occasion. "This (declaration; ed) is a form of our shared commitment to maintaining a safe and peaceful situation leading up to and during the 2024 elections. I emphasize, differences of opinion are part of democracy and must not threaten national unity and unity," said National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.< /p>
The National Police Chief added that this declaration involves all elements of society and organizations and is a continuation of the declaration made by political party representatives at Monas some time ago. "This is very good, if some time ago the declaration at Monas was carried out by representatives of political parties, this time it was carried out by the people who voted," he said.
This declaration is expected to become a reference for all elements in various Indonesian territory. If this is implemented in all places, he believes the election can run smoothly and safely.
Meanwhile, TNI Commander Admiral Yudo Margono emphasized the importance of Polri-TNI neutrality in the 2024 election to maintain a safe and smooth election. A number of religious figures, organizational leaders and community leaders also attended this event. They jointly pledged their commitment to support election security.
According to him, this peaceful declaration could be a very good step to ensure that the 2024 elections can take place peacefully, safely, smoothly and prosperously. He also emphasized that the TNI and Polri must be neutral in the election. This is the main key in order to be able to carry out or maintain this election well.
The Chancellor of UNESA, who is familiarly called Cak Hasan, on that occasion read out a pledge of joint commitment which contained;
We, all components The people of East Java are committed;
- Support and assist the ranks of the TNI-Polri in maintaining security and making the 2024 elections a safe and fair election.
- Maintaining unity and integrity within the framework of the Unitary State of the Republic Indonesia.
- Reject all forms of provocation that could divide brotherhood and actions that would harm the democratic party.
- Together counteract hoax news and hate speech that could disrupt the 2024 Election. li>
The parties who were also present in the pledge for peaceful elections this time were Chairman of FKUB Kiai A Hamid Syarif, Chairman of East Java MUI KH Moh Hasan Mutawakkil 'Alallah, Chairman of Nahdlatul Ulama KH Marzuki Mustamar, Chairman of PW Muhammadiyah Sukadiono, Chair of the East Java LDII Moch Amrodji Konawi.
