Unesa.ac.id, Surabaya – The Walk for Autism (WFA) was again held in Unesa. This time PSLD Unesa collaborated with JCI, and Dharma Wanita Persatuan Kota Surabaya. One of the series of events is the judging competition to decorate and paint trash cans held on Thursday (1/4/2021) at the Merdeka Belajar Unesa Lab of Lidah Wetan Campus.
In this event, also attended By Prof. Dr. Bambang Yulianto, M.Pd as Vice Rector of Academic Affairs Unesa. There is Dr. Sujarwanto, M.Pd. as Vice Rector for Planning and Cooperation of Unesa. Then there is Margareth Srijaya and Andri President of JCI 2021 and the team. There is also Iis Hendro Gunawan as The Head of Dharma Wanita Persatuan Kota Surabaya and Dra. Endah Purnomowati Nurhasan, M.Pd., as The Head of Dharma Wanita Persatuan Unesa.
WFA is one of the social events of JCI East Java that is usually held every year in order to welcome the World Autism Awareness Day which is usually celebrated every April 2. "This year, despite the pandemic, we again held WFA by implementing health protocols that we packed virtually," said Haryo, Project Director of WFA 2021.
He added that the main aim of the WFA was to raise public awareness and awareness to get to know and understand more deeply about children with special needs and people with disabilities.
The competition is to paint or decorate the trash can with the aim to hone the creativity of the child, then teach the meaning of cleanliness and love for the environment. In addition to trash painting competitions, Walk for Autism also this year held several other competitions, including decorative wheelchair competitions, and social distancing hat competitions and disability got talent. The announcement of the winners of the competitions was held at Pakuwon Trade Center (PTC) Mall on Friday (2/4).
President jci 2021 said that the funds and various needs for the event are donations from various CSR companies through members. "We aim only one, which is to keep mothers and parents of children with disabilities hopeful. They are not a disgrace, but rather sustenance, because they come with special potential and special talents," he said. (Hasna/Zam)
