Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA-As an effort to promote sport, the East Java Provincial Government launched the Jatim Seger program. Supporting the program, UNESA together with Dispora and KONI of Probolinggo Regency collaborated in initiating a sports village in Probolinggo.
The sports village was launched on Wednesday (29/09/2021) in Curah Dringu Village, Tongas District. The event was attended by the deputy regent of Probolinggo, Dispora ranks and KONI of Probolinggo Regency. In addition, there are also the leadership ranks of the Center for the Study of Sports Science, the Faculty of Sports Science and the UNESA Vocational Program.
Currently, there are 5 villages in the area dubbed the city of the wind that have been transformed into sports villages. The villages in question are Curah Dringu Village in Tongas, Wonokerso Village in Sumber District, Bago Village in Besuki District, Kedungdalem Village in Dringu District, and Gading Wetan Village in Gending District.
Head of the Center for the Study of Sports Science UNESA Dr. Moch. Purnomo, M. Kes said that the establishment of the sports village was an initiative of the Probolinggo Dispora which was then fully supported by UNESA and the local KONI.
The goal is to support the East Java program in socializing sports, so that exercise becomes a routine for citizens and becomes part of a culture of healthy lifestyles in the community. People who are mentally healthy and physically fit are an important support for the progress and development of society.
In addition, as a strategic step in capturing and finding sports seeds and talents to prepare for the upcoming East Java Provincial Sports Week (PORPROV). On a massive scale, sports villages will also continue to be initiated in various areas which can later become a place to search for sports seeds in the country.
After the launch of the Great Design of National Sports some time ago, he continued, the central government to the regions and universities are committed to building a system to improve national sports achievements at the world level. "One of our joint efforts is this sports village to find the best talents in the country as early as possible through the sports intelligence program," said Purnomo.
The sports talent search system is through the sport intelligence program and sports cadres in the villages. Later, UNESA will support with mentoring and sports laboratory programs outside the campus.
"We from UNESA, both the Center for the Study of Sports Science, the Faculty of Sports Science and the Vocational Sports Coaching Program are ready to support and help for the advancement of sports in East Java and nationally," he said.
Meanwhile, the Probolinggo government also appreciates the sports village program that has just been inaugurated. For them, this is a good step in improving the culture of healthy living in the community and increasing sports achievements in the region to the national level.
