Unesa.ac.id., SURABAYA—The natural beauty of New Zealand has succeeded in attracting Wahyu Adi Nugroho as the target country for the 2024 Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) program. This undergraduate student in Mathematics Education, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) UNESA succeeded in getting the opportunity to study for one semester at Victoria University of Wellington.
The man who is familiarly called Wahyu said that the desire to study abroad had been in his dreams since he was in junior high school. Because of this desire, he decided to take the superior class test in his study program, which was also his initial struggle to get to know more about international programs such as IISMA.
He also started to think about looking for universities and the classes they offer. sorting out the ones that suit his wishes.
Since he found out that the UNESA International Affairs Office (KUI) or OIA opened up mentoring opportunities for IISMA, he became more confident in joining the program. There, he received guidance from mentors to write essays.
According to him, writing essays is not an easy thing, especially for him, a Mathematics student who is not good at putting words together.
" "It's really not easy, maybe it's a bit stiff at first, but I'm used to it because I've revised it four times," said the student whose hobby is cultivating plants.
His seriousness in joining IISMA made him dream of an international program. the. "I had a dream that I didn't pass. I kept checking the announcement website. When I checked, I was silent, shocked, it turns out I passed," said the son of Wahono Priyo Pamungkas and Ratna Kartika Sari.

In the program This time, the fourth semester students chose Canada, America and New Zealand. The reason is none other than because these three countries in fact have advanced education.
He has discussed this directly with his friends who live in these three countries. "I want to know what it's like to live in a developed country, about their learning culture for example," said a student who is active in organizations on campus.
At his destination campus, he took a class on science knowledge. Apart from that, he has also thought about and written down what he will do there, including establishing as many relationships as possible. He admitted that he had registered for a student organization in the campus dormitory, joined a swimming club, and was still looking for another organization that he felt would bring him valuable experience.
After returning from New Zealand, he wanted to apply the knowledge he had gained to developed at the FMIPA eco-campus organization which he joined. He said he would take as much experience as possible, both in the academic and non-academic fields, so that it could be useful for himself, his alma mater and society.
For students who are fighting for IISMA, he said never feel inferior even though that is normal . It's okay to be insecure, as long as you can control it. However, he warned not to let the negative energy from feeling inferior stop him. "Why withdraw if you don't know the results? Don't give up, if we don't try when we have the opportunity, when will we," he said.[]
