Access) Surabaya Site managed by the Faculty of Language and Arts (FBS) SURABAYA STATE UNIVERSITY (UNESA) organizing Community Service as well as learning English with the community in the Social Welfare Institute of Children (LKSA) Muhammadiyah Karangpilang, Surabaya, on Sunday, July 2025. Surabaya Access work which is routinely carried out at each term or end of the semester. A total of 37 participants of the Access program, consisting of high school students and students, were actively involved in a series of learning activities with Santri LKSA, such as telling stories, public speaking training, and presentation practices with themes to develop hydroponic cultivation.
This theme was chosen as part of the introduction of the concept of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to the participants and the community. This Community Service program aims to strengthen and practice life skills ( life skills ), improve English language skills, and foster social empathy and spirit of community service.
Through this activity, participants are invited not only to learn in classrooms, but also directly interact and contribute to the community. Arik Susanti as the Coordinator of the Surabaya Access Site Program stressed that the activities Community Service became an effective means to hone the social, leadership and communication skills of participants.
"The focus is an increase in English language skills, character strengthening, and life skills. This is a golden opportunity for students and students from middle to lower families to develop and even have the opportunity to get a scholarship to America," he said. One of the Access program participants also expressed his enthusiasm, "This activity is fun because we can share directly with the community and practice what we have learned during the class." Site Surabaya is part of a global initiative carried out by the International Indonesia Education Foundation (IIEF) and is supported by the Regional English Language Office (RELO) of the United States Embassy. This program provides an opportunity for young people of Indonesia to develop the potential of language and leadership in the global context. []
