Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA—Subdirectorate of Learning, Academic Directorate, Surabaya State University (UNESA) held a Curriculum Transformation Workshop at the 6th Floor Auditorium, LPSP Building, Campus II Lidah Wetan, on Monday, December 11 2023. This activity was attended UNESA environment deans and deputy deans, heads of sub-directorates, section heads, UNESA environment study program coordinators, as well as members of the curriculum team.
Prof. Dr. Madlazim, M.Pd., Deputy Chancellor for Academic, Student and Alumni Affairs said that this activity was an effort to overhaul the curriculum in line with the industrial era. This is in line with the position of universities which should be leaders in innovation and progress.
"It must be completely overhauled, adjusting the structure, content, approach and learning model. Not only implementing the curriculum currently used (MBKM), "but also increasing power in all aspects, skills and competencies which also start from the curriculum," he said.
Curriculum transformation aims to increase relevance, effectiveness and needs in society that were never previously available in the classroom. So, it needs to be arranged in a structured transformation curriculum.

As a resource person, Ir. Lien Herlina, M.Sc. Director of Educational Transformation and Development Technology, IPB University conveyed the thinking process for reorienting the IPB Edu 4.0 curriculum (K-2020 Multistrata) as a form of transformation-based curriculum management.
He revealed that in preparing the educational transformation curriculum, there are many things that must be prepared well and thoroughly. Preparation is not necessarily used to adapt the existing curriculum, but provides changes or overhauls to obtain maximum curriculum design.
"Aspects of updating the curriculum, updating learning technology, integrating digital technology in learning, facilitating learning space beyond "classrooms, innovative learning grants, digitization of administrative systems and educational performance must be considered. There is also a need to prepare a timeline for the policies that will be implemented," he explained.
Policies or programs also need to be fully supported, such as MBKM and international classes. Innovation in carrying out MBKM such as activities outside the classroom, various ways of completing final assignments (thesis), and so on can signal the meaning of 'independence' in educational activities which is an indicator of achieved transformation of the curriculum.
Programs that are developed to the maximum will have high potential to encourage curriculum growth. Thus, it can be proven that the curriculum contains the skills, potential and values needed by students and universities in general.
"There we can design the most appropriate policy model and can continue to be relevant in various times. "Remembering that technology can be good or bad according to its use. With its multipurpose nature, the future becomes a provision for life, there is a need for skill mapping and career development which of course is needed by students," stressed Lien Herlina.
Expansion and expertise in understanding learning can be obtained from many digital platforms. Easy access to information and needs makes learning easier. The use of technology as a support for curriculum transformation will be the right combination to stimulate dynamic curriculum development.
"In the future, students will be able to determine the best job according to the results of digital work analysis and what needs are in the learning they are doing. Success "This cannot be separated from efforts to answer the needs of students, campuses and the wider community," he concluded.[]
