Unesa.ac.id, Surabaya- On (12/12), students from the Communication Science (Ikom) study program of the State University of Surabaya had successfully held an event titled WEFEST (Writing and Entertainment Festival) 2020. It was held with two concepts, namely online through Zoom Meeting application and also offline at Food Junction, Grand Pakuwon, Surabaya, this event is the culmination of a series of WEFEST 2020 events which have been held since November 2. Attended by a total of approximately 300 participants who joined the online (zoom) and offline (at Food Junction) sessions, this event also presented Guess Star Virtual, a well-known writer in Indonesia, Boy Candra. "The appreciation from the participants was extraordinary. Apart from competing, they were also satisfied that they had been given the opportunity to chat with Indonesian national writers. In addition, the hybrid concept, namely online and offline, is also a new challenge for us, but it is very interesting and even addictive because the Team Work is good, "explained Rahmah Harliandini, Manager of WEFEST 2020. WEFEST itself was born from the Meeting, Incentive, Convention, and Exhibition, or better known as MICE in the Communication Science study program and is intended for 5th semester students. Rahmah said that if to make an event like this (wefest), actors are required to be able to survive in any situation, especially since this kind of work has great potential. in the creative economy industry. In the peak event yesterday, apart from presenting a Virtual Talkshow with Boy Candra, there were also provided several kinds of literary performances, such as poetry readings, poetry musicalization by the Unesa Institute Theater, then Saman Dance, poetry readings, acoustic performances, and also other Virtual Talkshows with the theme Publishing. In addition, what is also awaited at the peak event is the awarding of participants in the short story, poetry and quotes competition, in which they will not only get cash, but also the works of the 10 best participants will be published into an e-book. "Hopefully, WEFEST is not only considered a ceremonial event. And hopefully, participants can feel a different atmosphere when they become part of WEFEST, because the concept is different, we also appreciate the participants' work by making it an exhibition.
