
Indonesian Petanque contingent in the awarding session of The 2nd Petanque Asian Championships 2024.
Unesa.ac.id. SURABAYA—Athletes and coaches from Surabaya State University (UNESA) made Indonesia proud in The 2nd Petanque Asian Championships which took place at the Luzhu Park Pétanque Arena, Taoyuan City, Taiwan on 20-25 November 2024.
The Indonesian petanque contingent strengthened by students from the Faculty of Sports and Health Sciences (FIKK) and UNESA coaches, they recorded new history by winning 1 gold and 1 bronze medal in prestigious competitions the.
The medal was presented by Anjani Dwi Apriliah from the Bachelor of Sports Education Study Program, and Sephia Febriyanti from the Bachelor of Sports Education Study Program, under the cool hands of coach Yogiswara Anugrah Pamungkas.
Anjani Dwi Apriliah, talked about the fierce competition she went through in the women's singles event. The competitive atmosphere became even more pronounced when entering the quarter-finals which brought together Indonesia and the Chinese Taipei, Cambodia and Malaysia contingents.

In the quarter-finals, Anjani managed to beat the Chinese Taipei contingent and advance to the final round. In the final round, Anjani met the Malaysian contingent who managed to beat Cambodia in the quarter-finals.
In this thrilling match, Anjani appeared full of confidence and achieved maximum results. He succeeded in shifting the dominance of the Malaysian contingent and lifted the gold medal trophy in that number.
"Alhamdulillah, the long preparation and training has finally borne sweet fruit. Thank you for the prayers and support from all parties, including the big family of PB FOPI and UNESA," said Anjani after getting the medal gold.
The Chancellor of UNESA and General Chair of the Indonesian Petanque Sports Federation (PB FOPI), Nurhasan or Cak Hasan expressed his pride in the brilliant achievements recorded by students and their coaches on the international stage.
For Cak Hasan, this achievement is a new history for Indonesia which has successfully competed with contingents from other countries. This achievement is proof of the ability of UNESA petanque athletes to dominate international level petanque competitions.
