Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA - Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA) actively participates in various rankings of world universities. One of them is THE Asia University Ranking (AUR) 2022, the results of which were announced directly from Japan a few days ago. First following THE AUR, UNESA was ranked 750th in Asia and 16th nationally.
Head of the UNESA College Clustering and Ranking Unit, Nadi Suprapto, M.Pd., Ph.D., explained that for the Asian level, there were 829 institutions involved and UNESA managed to rank 750 with reporter status. Meanwhile, on a national scale, UNESA was ranked 16th out of 19 institutions with reporter status.
“Reporter status means that UNESA publications have not reached the threshold or threshold provisions, especially in 2016. According to THE rules, the number of publications for the last 5 years assessed is a minimum of 1,000 documents with a minimum of 150 documents per year. But for THE 2023, we have met these criteria, so the status of UNESA in 2023 will certainly increase," he explained.
Nadi added that this achievement is a reflection of UNESA's work in the eyes of the public, both nationally and internationally. "This is a form of our joint cooperation in bringing UNESA to become an advanced and superior campus and has an international reputation," he said.
Meanwhile, UNESA Chancellor Prof. Nurhasan, M.Kes., expressed his gratitude to all staff who have slowly but surely brought UNESA to become one of the leading and advanced campuses in educating a nation that is adaptive, innovative and globally competitive.
"This is extraordinary, firstly, we have entered the top 20 universities in the country whose reputation is recognized. Previously, we were ranked 14th nationally in THE-SDGs Impact Rankings 2022. Then in THE-WUR, Unesa was in 18th position nationally. This must be a motivation for all of us to show a better and clearer performance in the future," said Cak Hasan.
“We have to increase innovation, we have to increase collaboration with various universities or world institutions, and we have to increase our research and publications in journals with international reputation. Of course, don't expect mere rankings, but our innovations and creations in universities can benefit the community and the nation," he said.
For information, the campuses that are in the top 19 national versions of THE AUR 2022 are University of Indonesia, Bandung Institute of Technology, Indonesian Education University, Airlangga University, Gadjah Mada University, Hasanuddin University, Bogor Agricultural Institute, Sebelas Maret University, Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology, Telkom University, Bina Nusantara University, Brawijaya University, Diponegoro University, Padjadjaran University, Bakrie University, SURABAYA STATE UNIVERSITY, Satya Wacana Christian University, North Sumatra University, and Yogyakarta State University.
