Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA-A total of 70 young Fashion Designers from the UNESA Fashion Design Undergraduate Study Program presented their best works with the theme "MAREYA: Preserving Madura Pride" in the Annual Fashion Show on Thursday night, October 28, 2021. The implementation was held virtually with the best fashion works.
Rielia Feby Sasmita, the head of the committee, stated that there were 210 works displayed in the show. There are 140 womens wear and 70 mens wear. Of the 210 works, they are divided into casual wear and day wear, traveling wear, office wear, and special wear.
The Mareya theme was chosen to interpret the meaning of Madura from various sides into the form of fashion works which are divided into several sub-themes; there is Mahadibya which means the clothes of the Madurese palace, Neo Amarta means the site or temple of the Queen Mother in Madura, Sadiwara Pesaan is the traditional dress of the Madurese or Pesaan people, and Mannosa Coma Dharma means the architecture of the Jami' Madura mosque.
Then there is also Asta Bujha is a traditional Nyadar ceremony in Madura, Oker Okel is a typical Madurese carving, Gandara Saronen which means wind instrument or Madurese saronen, Okop Jhang Banyan is a traditional Madurese dance, namely mask dance, Anvaya Vahitra means traditional ceremony rokaat in Madura, and Ajelen Leter is a culture of karapan sapi or sonok cattle. “Thank you for the support from all parties so that the event can run successfully. Hopefully this will be part of the contribution of young people to UNESA to bring fashion works to life with a touch of regional culture," he hoped. (Madina)
