Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA–Celebrating its 13th anniversary, the Confucius Institute (CI) State University of Surabaya (UNESA) held an International Mandarin Language Education Seminar and Workshop Mandarin Language Teacher at Auditorium T2, Faculty of Languages and Arts (FBS), Campus 2 Lidah Wetan, Surabaya, on Saturday, November 2 2024,
This activity was attended by resource persons from China, Malaysia and Indonesia, as well as a number of figures important, such as the Consul General of the PRC in Surabaya, the Education and Cultural Attache of the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing, and various UNESA officials.
The Director of CI UNESA, Sueb explained that this celebration was not just a commemoration achievement, but rather a manifestation of CI UNESA's grand vision.
According to him, CI UNESA's role has now developed into a center for international cooperation that not only focuses on Mandarin language education, but also strengthens relations between nations in various fields, including cultural and academic exchanges.
"This celebration confirms our commitment to supporting education and sustainable cross-cultural cooperation," said Sueb.

On this occasion, UNESA also signed several Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) covering main programs.
Including the development of Mandarin language teaching methods, the establishment of new teaching points in various educational institutions, as well as cultural classes that enrich understanding of China.
In addition, there is an international student exchange program designed to provide a broad learning experience and strengthen academic networks. He hopes that all these initiatives will have a positive and sustainable impact on students and the educational community.
"In the future, CI UNESA is targeting ambitious achievements, such as becoming an official HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) test center in the Surabaya area, working together with the license holder CTI Beijing," he explained.

Not only that, CI UNESA is also preparing dual-degree programs, such as the 2+2 and 3+1 schemes, which allow students to study in China and Indonesia.
Furthermore, the development of the Confucius Institute alliance in Indonesia is being worked on to strengthen synergy between CIs and increase the efficiency of educational and cultural programs throughout the country.
"We want CI UNESA to become a center of excellence in language and culture teaching that bridges wider international cooperation," he added.
Sun Yang, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Central China Normal University ( CCNU), highlighted the importance of close relations between China and Indonesia, which continue to develop to a higher level. According to him, these two countries are valuable partners who respect each other.
"We see a lot of progress in this cooperation, which has produced great benefits in various sectors," he said.
He emphasized that education is a key component in relations between countries and plays a significant role in supporting cross-cultural cooperation

Not only that, he appreciates CI UNESA as an important platform that connects students from both countries and facilitates cultural and academic exchanges.
CI UNESA has succeeded in strengthening education language, both Mandarin in Indonesia and vice versa. So, this collaboration affects various fields, including companies and increasingly intensive cultural activities.
We emphasize China's commitment to sharing educational resources with a spirit of openness inclusive and positive education, sharing resources, and strengthening communication and joint research," he said.
He also mentioned that CI UNESA has been a pioneer in holding online education activities, which helps expand the reach of language education. Sun also hopes that this collaboration will produce more superior talents from Indonesia who are ready to compete on the global stage.[*]
