Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA–In addition to exhibiting hundreds of works, students of the Fine Arts Study Program, Faculty of Language and Arts (FBS), UNIVERSITAS NEGERI SURABAYA (UNESA) also 'coloured' the Art Exhibition with works of art; curatorial talk at T3 Building, FBS, UNESA Lidah Wetan, Surabaya on Tuesday (14/06/2022) night.
In the session, the young artists of the UNESA Art Exhibition (Parsesa) one by one dissected their works and explained the creative process, inspiration and values behind their works. Like Muhammad Muslim Alim A, for example, who conveyed details about his work entitled "I'm Not Me".
Muhammad Muslim said that, "I am not I" expresses the phenomenon of human beings in this century which tends to lose their identity. Identity, he continued, is a picture or special state of a person. It can also be understood as a person's special identity which includes character, personality, traits and character.
Recent technological advances, he continued, on the one hand, have made it easier for humans to do various things with just one click or swipe their finger on the phone screen. The activities and necessities of life that are increasingly instantaneous, it turns out that on the other hand it saves a million harms of which can keep a person from 'himself'.
“This work departs from that anxiety. As a material for collective reflection so that we are wiser in navigating life and in using technology. With more advanced technology, we should be more productive and make it easier to find our identity," he said.
In addition, Abdul Mujib also presented his work; "In the Eastern Quarter of Segara". His work depicts the landscape from end to end, whose beauty will never end and its mystery will never be completely solved. Nature and humans continue to coexist, always complementing them at any time.
“This work departs from pride in the natural beauty of the archipelago which should be grateful not only in the form of words, but actions that lead to the preservation and preservation of natural beauty. The satire goes that way," said Abdul Mujib.
Then, Noviani Lestari also revealed her work entitled "Isolation". The work in the form of a beautiful ornamental fish with the restraints of a plastic bag hanging just like that. “This work, of course, started from anxiety. Regarding what is being insinuated, each one who sees it can catch and interpret it himself. Let the painting itself speak for the viewer. The content can be different," he said.
Winda Dona, one of the committee members, explained that hundreds of works are under the same theme, Travesty. In accordance with the theme, the works come from anxiety and concern for the conditions of reality and convey messages or satire through works. Many of the targets were satirized; human behavior, sexual traditions, transgender mentality to environmental damage.
“In addition to the exhibition and review of works and curatorial talks, the series of events also consists of the Resin Jewelery workshop, and the Ayos Purwo Aji (Aklampanyun) Talkshow. Hopefully these works can be useful for us, UNESA and society in general," he said. [UNESA PR]
