Unesa.ac.id, Surabaya – Surabaya State University won two prestigious awards from the Directorate General of Intellectual Property of the Ministry of Law & Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia at the event Synergy of Ministries and Institutions for the Protection of Indonesian Intellectual Property which took place at the Westin Hotel, South Jakarta on Friday, (5/11).
The two awards are the First Rank in the Application for Highest Trademark Registration in 2020 in the Higher Education Category with 18 Applications and Third Rank in the Application for Copyright Registration in the Higher Education Category with 169 Applications.
The acceptance of the award was submitted directly by the Director General of Intellectual Property, Dr. Freddy Harris, ACCS to the Head of the Center for Intellectual Property Rights and Innovation Product Certification, Prof. Dr. Tukiran, M.Si. He, as the representation of the Unesa team, expressed his utmost gratitude for the achievements the team had made to be able to continue to contribute to the country.
Tukiran (on WhatsApp interview) explained that Unesa was competing with several well-known universities in each category. In the Trademark Registration category, there are Telkom University and Nahdlatul Ulama University, which ranked second and third. Meanwhile, in the Copyright Category, there were Research Institutions and Community Service of Jakarta State University and Research Institutions and Community Service of Andalas University as the first and second rank.
Furthermore, Tukiran added that the team keeps providing the best service to each academic community regarding IPR registration (Copyright, Industrial Design, Patents, and Trademarks). Therefore, they are grateful that what has been done, supported by the intellectual work of the academic community, can produce good results.
"This is an award that we are very grateful for, as well as a mandate or trust that must be fulfilled by all Unesa academicians. Hopefully there will be more trademark and copyright registration results from Unesa that will benefit wide community," said Tukiran.
Tukiran believes that universities, research institutions, polytechnics and other institutions will never stop and continue their work to pursue their main performance targets such as the fulfillment of the agreed IPR target achievement.
Therefore, in order to create a competitive atmosphere, Unesa will continue to strive for IPR mediation activities, especially the acceleration of patent acquisition, which is also a target for the 2021 Directorate General of Intellectual Property in the field of patents. In addition, Unesa will also oversee the results of research and community service from various funding sources which are the target outcomes of students, lecturers and education staff in the context of IPR socialization, mentoring and consultation as well as serving, facilitating and encouraging acceleration of compiling and preparing files and IPR documents.
