Unesa.ac.id, Surabaya–Unesa through the Learning and Professional Development Institute (LP3) held an academic orientation for the Teacher Professional Education program in Phase Two of the Year 2021. The opening and orientation were attended by the Unesa Chancellor, LP3 Leaders, and Head of the Unesa PPG Center and 406 PPG students on Monday (24 / 05/2021).
Unesa Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nurhasan, M.Kes on that occasion emphasized that all PPG students must be committed, not only with themselves but with other people and their surroundings. "A conducive environment will encourage students to stay focused in following the orientation," said Nurhasan.
Furthermore, the Head of LP3 Unesa Dr. Bachtiar Saiful Bahri M.Pd explained that the Covid-19 pandemic has had a different impact from another point of view. Bachtiar also added that the research on teachers 'understanding of IT before the Covid-19 pandemic showed that only 20% of the total teachers understood IT, but after one semester had passed during the Covid-19 pandemic, teachers' understanding of IT increased drastically.
He continued that the teacher is a profession that is very dynamic in adapting to the times. Future teachers based on the Indonesian education philosophy are teachers who see children with respect and educate them in a relevant way. "We must teach certainty in uncertainty, such as the concept of independent learning which learns according to their wants and needs," he explained.
As the PPG Unesa Team Dr. Hermanto, M.Pd, on that occasion explained about deepening the material and developing learning tools. He continued that the stages of deepening the material in 2020 and 2021 were different, so the learning load for PPG students became heavier. "Students are required to deepen the material using Problem Based Learning," said Heman. This activity ended with a technical explanation of the use of the application by the IT Team from PPG Unesa.
