Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA - Surabaya State University Choir KKM, Gita Pramawisesa won two gold medals at the same time at the 10th Bali International Choir Festival (BICF) held by the Bandung Choral Society on December 1-5 2021.
Gita Pramawisesa's coach, Budi Dharmawan Putra, S. Pd., M.Pd., said that his choir team had been absent from participating in various competitions throughout 2020, one of the factors was the pandemic. Although there were times when someone held a similar event online, but it was not attended for several reasons.
His team had just joined the competition, when the BICF competition was held semi-virtually. The team spirit in training is back, even though the risk of Covid-19 is still overshadowed. However, because of his determination and enthusiasm, his team remained disciplined in preparing and practicing regularly.
As a coach, he admitted that there were many challenges during the preparation period, and he couldn't be too selective in choosing a chorister considering that the selection was held online. "But I don't want to appear as it is, but what I am trying to do is to be optimized with a humanist and constructive approach," he said.
Nabila Citra Rafidayanti, the team leader, said that in order to take part in the BICF competition, her team has been preparing since August 2021. Initially, an internal meeting was held, preparing the team, selecting the choisters, regular online and offline exercises, and many more. The process takes about 3 months.
"There must be obstacles, because the Gita Pramawisesa choir team consists of many people, so managing that many people with different activities is not easy, but thank God the team has done their best," he explained.
With quirky costumes plus beautiful choreography, the golden voice of Gita Pramawisesa who performed the song Wor managed to win a gold medal for level IV categories, namely the Choir Competition–Folklore category with a score of 33.75 and Choir Championship–Folklore with a score of 83.75. I'm sure there are many UNESA students who have a passion for music, especially singing," he said.
"I hope that students who have singing talent will not hesitate to join the choir community at UNESA and those who have joined need to improve their discipline in practicing and that is the key," he continued. [UNESA PR]
