Unesa. ac.id., SURABAYA—International students from the Indonesian Language for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) program at Surabaya State University (UNESA) taught and shared experiences with UNESA Labschool students on Friday, May 17 2024. p>
Foreign students from Japan, Korea, China, Madagascar, Australia, Yemen, Papua New Guinea, Sudan and Iran teach from kindergarten, elementary, middle school, high school and vocational school levels. This activity started at the UNESA Labschool Kindergarten, Elementary and Middle School located on the Ketintang Campus. Next, they will teach at the Lasbchool on the Lidah Wetan Campus according to the planned schedule.
This new, sustainable program is the first step to involve foreign students studying at UNESA as part of strengthening the transformation and internationalization of the UNESA Labschool towards an international standard school.
The international student teaching program at UNESA Labschool is a breakthrough that has an impact on the experience of BIPA students and Labschool students.
Institution Director UNESA Labschool, Prof. Dr. Sujarwanto, M.Pd., said that this activity was intended to provide an opportunity for UNESA Labschool students to improve their mastery in the field of foreign languages and be able to interact directly with foreign students.
"Apart from that, students can also "It's certainly different. Children who have met and discussed with foreign students can be more confident and motivated to learn," said the FIP professor.
On the other hand, he continued, for foreign students the BIPA program can improve Indonesian language skills through teaching practice and provide direct experience in applying their knowledge in the Indonesian educational environment.< /p>
"So, this activity is not only beneficial for foreign students, but also provides new insight for Labschool students about the cultural diversity of various countries," he said.
Chair of the Dharma Wanita Persatua Foundation (DWP) and UNESA Labschool Supervisor Dra Endah Purnomowati, M.Pd welcomed this program so that students and teachers can learn best practice experiences from foreign students from different cultural backgrounds.

One of the BIPA students from South Korea expressed his joy, "I am very happy to be able to teach here and interact with Indonesian students. This was a valuable experience that deepened my understanding of Indonesian language and culture."
With interactive and fun teaching methods, the foreign students of the BIPA program succeeded in attracting the interest of UNESA Labschool students. They taught Indonesian language subjects in a way that is adapted to each student's educational level.
On the other hand, this teaching program is part of UNESA Labschool's efforts to promote Indonesian language and culture to foreign students, as well as strengthen international relations through education and cultural exchange . It is also hoped that it can strengthen the position of the Indonesian language on the international stage.[]
