Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA_The Lecturer Team of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering (FT) Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA) held a workshop on the use of the Internet of Things (IoT) through voice recognition-based smarthomes which was attended by 15 students and teachers at SMKN 3 Bondowoso some time ago.
The goal is to improve students' understanding and skills in utilizing IoT, in particular making automatic control programs for learning and daily life needs. In addition, it is also to support the government's efforts to develop IoT in the form of a smart city.
Puput Wanarti Rusimamto, S.T., M.T., chief executive explained that in realizing a smart city, there is an appeal from the government to prepare and involve young people, students and students to be involved in smart city development. "The training we provide is directed there," he said.
Added Puput, the workshop was held in the form of delivering theory on understanding IoT and Arduino programming. Arduino is a single board microcontroller that is open source and is one of the projects that facilitates the use of electronics in various fields. Participants also practice Arduino programming and develop IoT with trainers.
According to him, IoT has an important role in Industry 4.0, because it can connect everything to the internet network. The results will be analyzed by the user, and used as needed. So far, people are mostly consumers and do not know about the design or manufacturing process, even though this automatic control can be learned easily.
One of the components used for the design is the Arduino microcontroller board which was created for development, training and learning in the world of education. “Our program is how IoT is optimally used in education. The hope is that it can increase the creativity and innovation of students in the regions in creating automatic control technology," he said.
The workshop is a community service program carried out and carried out by Puput Wanarti Rusimamto, S.T., M.T., together with Dr. Agus Budi Santosa, M.Pd., Dr. Nurhayati, S.T., M.T., and Dr. Tri Rijanto, M.Pd., M.T. "This world is directed towards automation, therefore young people and students need to be introduced and taught simple automation programs in their daily lives," he said. [UNESA PR]
