The agenda for strengthening the capacity of the UNESA Task Force is filled with the delivery of material as a provision for participants in making efforts to prevent drug abuse in society.
Unesa. AC ID. SURABAYA—Subdirectorate of Crisis Center Mitigation (SMCC), Surabaya State University (UNESA) held capacity building for the task force (Satgas) and preparations for the election of Anti-Narcotics Ambassadors which took place in the Auditorium, 11th floor, Rectorate Building, on Friday, October 4 2024.
This activity was attended by the task force, students, and members of the Anti-Drug Student Activity Unit (UKM) and Student Counselors (Ankasa). Wiryo Nuryono, Head of Sub-Directorate for Crisis Mitigation Center UNESA, conveyed UNESA's commitment to efforts to prevent narcotics abuse.
Since 2021, UNESA has had a special section head for anti-narcotics and has consistently received awards in 2022, 2023 and 2024 for efforts to prevent narcotics abuse.
This year, the capacity of the task force was increased through collaboration with UKM Ankasa which focuses on student counseling and drug prevention.
"Narcotics users in East Java are currently the second highest in Indonesia, "especially among teenagers. Unfortunately, only around 10% of users have received rehabilitation," he said.
He added that the target of this activity is to prevent narcotics abuse among students as well as carry out outreach and rehabilitation at UNESA.
"Apart from that, there are plans to target 100 schools to conduct outreach regarding the dangers of narcotics," he said.
The Head of UKM Ankasa, Nafila Adinda Rini, explained that this activity was the first program of the management their new.
The focus of the activity is training on basic prevention, rehabilitation and addiction methods, as well as understanding the legal aspects of P4GN (Prevention and Eradication of Narcotics Abuse and Illicit Trafficking).
Training materials are prepared so that students understand the dangers of narcotics and are ready to carry out outreach to the community, both at elementary, middle school, high school and in villages.
The selection of Anti-Narcotics Ambassadors is also a part of this program, but the selection of new ambassadors will be carried out after the training stage is completed.[*]
