Unesa.ac.id., SURABAYA—The commemoration of National Sports Day (Haornas) continues to resonate at Surabaya State University (UNESA). As part of this, UNESA through the Faculty of Sports and Health Sciences (FIKK) collaborated with the ASEAN Council Physical Education and Sport (ACPES) to hold an International Workshop at UNESA, Lidah Wetan Campus, Surabaya, Saturday (16/9/2023).
This activity, which is also part of UNESA's 59th Anniversary commemoration, involves 3 countries; Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore. They focused on discussing Applied Science into Practice which was also the theme of the workshop. The first professional development activity organized by UNESA together with ACPES was initiated by FIKK, Sport Exercise Research Center (SERC), and FV.
When opening the activity, Dr. Dwi Cahyo Kartiko, S.Pd., M.Kes., Dean of FIKK UNESA explained that this activity was attended by three instructors representing three countries. They are Prof. Toho Cholik Mutohir, Ph.D., from Indonesia, Assoc Prof. Koh Koon Teck from Singapore, and Hisyam Che Mat from Malaysia.
The three instructors presented different themes which were delivered in three different places. First, Prof. Toho Cholik delivered material on 'Implementation of Physical Literacy using Visual Coaching Pro'in the LPPM Room on the 6th Floor of the Rectorate.
Secondly, Prof. Koh Koon Teck PhD from FIBA, as well as Head of Physical Education Study Program, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore spoke about "Effective Instruction and Feedback in Teaching Basketball" at the UNESA Basketball GOR.

"We saw all the participants who took part were very enthusiastic, because there were lots of new insights and knowledge from these experts. "This is an important provision for us together," said the Dean of FIKK.
The participants, continued Dwi Cahyo Kartiko, totaled 89 people who came from various backgrounds. There are coaches, sports teachers, lecturers, sports activists from among disability groups, and administrators of the Indonesian National Paralympic Committee (NPC). This activity was packaged in the form of a panelist forum.
In the material session in the LPPM Room, Prof. Toho Cholik Mutohir said that students, practitioners and sports coaches must fully understand the direction of technological development in relation to scientific disciplines and the future of sports careers. This is important, because all fields, including sports, cannot be separated from technology.
The application of technology in sports science is a necessity, including in athlete development and athletes' physical literacy. According to him, the application of sports science combined with technology is the key to success in the world of sports today.
He hopes that after holding this workshop, a consistent program can be designed so that it can be applied to support the dynamics of Indonesian sports in this digital era. This workshop is an important first step in a student's or coach's journey towards excellence in the world of modern athlete coaching.
"Hopefully this will become FIKK's flagship program for UNESA which can provide services to the wider community, especially academics, to apply visual coaching pro as a a form of digital technology in the form of web-based software. "This is an added value for FIKK graduates so they can be competitive and meaningful in society," hoped the UNESA professor.
One of the important aspects of this workshop is that participants are taught how to use athlete training sequence analysis. Participants learn how to closely analyze athletes' bodies through visual technology.
This can help them understand the technical aspects of various sports and how technology can be used to identify necessary improvements with output in the form of special digital technology applications visual coaching pro in order to improve the quality of PJOK learning and sports training.
Apart from that, participants were also introduced to practical assistance in creating software with training applications that can be used to plan effective training programs and track athletes' progress directly. detailed. Prof. Toho Cholik Mutohir also talked about using data in making training decisions, so that students can optimize their athlete potential.
This workshop also focuses on physical literacy, which is an understanding of the importance of balance, coordination, strength and flexibility in athlete development. With the help of visual coaching technology, students learn how to identify an athlete's individual physical needs and design training programs accordingly. [*]
