Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA-In the successful implementation of DBON in East Java, the All-Indonesian Athletics Association of East Java (PASI Jatim) collaborates with many parties, one of which is DBL Indonesia in managing athlete development in East Java. This collaboration was demonstrated through the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Chairperson of the East Java PASI Pengprov Prof. Nurhasan, M.Kes and the Founder and CEO of DBL Indonesia Azrul Ananda in Gor Tawangalun, Banyuwangi on Saturday, March 19, 2022. The signing of the MoU was witnessed directly by the General Chairperson of the Executive Board (PB). ) PASI, Luhut Binsar Panjaitan.
These collaborations include coaching athletes and organizing the 2022 East Java Student Athletic Championships. One of the goals of this competition is to further promote athletics in the community. Therefore, the championship will target all cities and regencies in East Java whose implementation is planned in eight regions.
Luhut Binsar Panjaitan said he was happy with the collaboration between PASI and DBL to socialize and intensify sports in the community, especially at the student level. “This collaboration is great. Moreover, DBL has experience in playing basketball, especially at an early age. I hope this is a good step to improve national sports achievements," said the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs.
Nurhasan who is also the Chancellor of the State University of Surabaya (Unesa) on that occasion said that in order to advance sports, it is necessary to take many approaches, multi-strategies and collaborate with many stakeholders. According to him, the perspective of sport must really start from the bottom. This means that performance improvement must be systematic and by design. "What we have to do is to start promoting sports through various competitions, from there potential and talent can be found early on," he said.
The collaboration with DBL Indonesia is expected to be able to produce the best formulation for passive athletics. The cooperation is also expected to be an example for other regions in Indonesia. “DBL has unquestionable experience. This can be done on the athletic aspect. So that we are no longer short of potential athletes in the future. Moreover, Mas Azrul (Azrul Ananda) has often coordinated with me," said Cak Hasan.
He added, for the development of athletes and the successful implementation of DBON in East Java, UNESA has been appointed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports as the center for screening and coaching athletes in East Java. Therefore, in the future, the training and coaching of athletes will use a comprehensive approach, including the application of sport sciences. "It's no longer just looking at talent, but now it's based on sport science," he said.
Meanwhile, Azrul Ananda revealed that athletics is not new to him. According to him, so far many do not know that when he started developing the DBL competition, he was not actually a basketball kid. “When I was in high school, I was an athletic kid. When I was in high school, my sport was track and field. I'm a 2 mile (3.2 km) runner and the high jumper. I just don't know why I can make basketball in the first place," he said.
The CEO of DBL Indonesia expressed his pleasure because he was given the trust to promote athletic sports. He is optimistic that this collaboration can improve national sports achievements. "It doesn't make sense that Indonesia as one of the most densely populated countries can't excel in athletics. Hopefully our experience of massing basketball through DBL can also be carried out in athletics. It's just a matter of how the base pyramid is made more solid," said Azrul. [UNESA PR]
