Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA-Traditional games are rarely found and replaced by modern games that are attached to application-based technology. There are those who view that traditional games are part of local wisdom that has educational value about the meaning of cooperation, mutual cooperation and involves the motor side and high affection of children.
Children's interest in traditional games has decreased dramatically, even though the existence of these games can be a means of playing as well as learning for children. For that reason, UNESA students create traditional games in a contemporary format that can be accessed via smartphones.
These innovations are not arbitrary, but are based on a research process carried out through research on hundreds of children. As a result, children are now more fond of online games because they are easily accessible. Until finally, they created a game called Finesa Flashcard Culture, an innovative educational game with barcodes based on local wisdom.
Their goal is to educate children and the general public about traditional games from various provinces in Indonesia. Traditional games with a modern touch, besides being able to enrich knowledge, can also preserve the nation's heritage. "We also want to invite them to be interested and return to playing traditional games," said FFC Team Leader, Nanda Agil Bagus Wicaksono.
He explained that the game system they created was quite easy to use. Download the application on the Playstore and scan the code or barcode from the flashcard which they can buy through the marketplace and Instagram. Then there will be guessing game names and information about history, regulations and ending with the display of match videos from 34 traditional games from various Indonesian provinces.
This FFC also received a pretty good response from the community, it was proven that in less than a week it was launched, there were 43 people who made purchases. In addition to the usefulness of the game, they also implement a marketing strategy in the form of giving special prices so that they are expected to attract wider interest for people who want to make purchases.
In the future, they will also provide a number of innovations such as the emergence of educational game series from other fields such as nutrition and the arts. Thanks to the novelty, they also received funding for the Student Creativity Program from the Higher Education.
"With this FFC product, younger siblings, friends and the whole community can play traditional games again while preserving the local wisdom that we have," hoped Agil. (UNESA PR)
