Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA–Swara Anggita Choir (SAC) under the auspices of the Student Choir and Music Activity Unit (UK-PSM) performed extraordinary in a music concert entitled "CANDRAMAWA" at Building I8, 3rd Floor, Faculty of Social Sciences and Law (FISH), UNESA Ketintang Campus, on Saturday, 21 October 2023.
Ahmad Aufa Harits, as the chief organizer, said that this activity was a preparation for SAC before taking part in the choir competition which will be held in Semarang.
“We, SAC will take part in the Karangturi International Choir Competition which will be held in Semarang, 13-18 November 2023. "We are holding this concert as an offering as well as our preparation before competing," he said.
The 2023 Karangturi International Competition itself, he continued, is a choir competition which will be attended by national and international level participants. Competing closely with 80 other participants, a total of 39 choir members will be sent to the competition.
Fauzi Bakhtiar, as SAC supervisor, said that a competition like this is a mandatory activity that must be held at least once a year. Karangturi International Competition 2023 is a new competition which this time was tried after several previous similar competitions.
“We have participated in several similar competitions in many places. Tomorrow this will be the first time in this competition. "We will take part in two categories, namely Mix Classical and Folklore," he said.
The SAC advisor added that the members had been practicing for several months for the competition. Returning from the competition as winners is their best hope.
“We have been training for 6 months. We usually only make it 3 times a week, up to 5-6 times. "This is of course to get the best results, namely a gold medal," he explained.
As a forum for developing interest and talent in the field of choirs, SAC has succeeded in achieving many achievements at national and international levels since 2016. The latest achievements are won the Silver Medal A Award in the Folklore category and the Mixed Youth category at the 2022 IBCF international competition.
“After the pandemic, we admit that this competition is a tough challenge. "However, by consistently practicing and being serious, we still aim to achieve the best," he hoped.[]
