Unesa.ac.id, Surabaya-The Chancellor of the State University of Surabaya (UNESA), became one of the honorary judges in the photo competition themed "TANGGUH" held by Jawa Pos. Besides the UNESA Chancellor, there are also four other honorary judges in the competition for the 17 August 2021 edition, namely the Governor of East Java, Dra. Hj. Khofifah Indar Parawansa, M.Sc., Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi, S.T., M.T, Unair Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih, SE., MT., Ak, and Head of Bank Indonesia Region IV East Java Representative, Difi Ahmad Johansyah.
Ibnu Yunianto, Chief Editor of Jawa Pos said that the competition was in the context of the 76th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia with a total prize of Rp 100 million. The response of photography lovers is quite extraordinary. Lens works that went into the editor reached 1,960 photos.
According to him, the photos are the best work of Indonesian photographers. "This competition is the second Jawa Pos lens photo competition when everyone is in limited motion, but the results are extraordinary," he said.
Prof. Dr. Nurhasan, M.Kes., Chancellor of UNESA appreciated the competition. According to him, the competition is not just an ordinary photo contest. However, Jawa Pos wanted to celebrate Indonesia's independence in a different way; work-based and meaningful.
From the choice of the word "TANGGUH" as the theme of the competition, it has conveyed many meanings, one of which is persuasion to continue to be optimistic in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.
"No matter how hard it is, we must not fall (give up, ed), but must choose to be tough," he said enthusiastically. "Tanggu is brave to be creative, not afraid of making mistakes, able to adapt and collaborate," he continued.
In addition, the competition indirectly wants to invite generations of the nation to continue working amidst the limited steps due to the epidemic. According to him, most importantly, the impetus of this work is directed towards exploring another side of Indonesia that is diverse and charming.
"I catch, this competition wants to convey that we are rich in resources and have requirements and lots of potential to become a glorious and advanced country," he said. Of course, there are lots of positive invitations through these activities. "Continue to work for the nation's children, the future of our nation is in the hands of all of you," he ordered.
