Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA–There are many ways that can be done to strengthen teacher competence in underdeveloped areas. One of them could be holding a Workshop on Developing the Quality of Basic Education Educators in Disadvantaged Areas as carried out by Surabaya State University (UNESA) from July to September 2023.
The workshop was carried out by PPG, UNESA LPSP and was carried out online involving participants from two regions, namely East Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) and North Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
Participants are teachers from these two regions, each totaling 30 participants with details the field of Mathematics in East Manggarai Regency and English in North Lombok.
The PPG Central Secretary, Julianto, S.Pd., M.Pd., explained that the aim of this activity is to improve the qualifications and competence of teaching staff basic education with a Bachelor's degree.
"Increasing competence, so that teachers have competence as basic education teachers and providing guidance on strengthening academic abilities towards PPG," he said.
The teachers in This workshop provides material in the form of PPG policies, pedagogical material, professional material, development of learning tools, and peer teaching according to the fields of study in these two areas.
Apart from increasing teacher competency, participants in this workshop are targeted to be attracted to in the PPG Daljab quota in 2024.[]
