Deputy Dean for Planning, Finance, Resources, General Affairs, Cooperation and Information Communication Technology at FIP UNESA, Dr. Andi Kristanto, S.Pd., M.Pd., delivered his speech and opened the event which was attended by many participants.
He hopes that this webinar can become a venue for academic interaction for students and expert speakers, so that it can inspire the birth of new ideas that can advance education and science at UNESA for Indonesia.
In his material, Associate Prof. Dr. Pennee Narot highlighted the concept of literacy, especially culturally responsive learning. From a Thai perspective, it is hoped that learning can be based on cultural literacy, where students can appreciate different cultures at school.
“The most important literacy development comes from families and communities, including religious leaders. "Today's society is a 'knowledge society' where people can now learn anywhere, anytime, and with anyone," he added.
Associate Professor Narong Kiettikunwong highlighted the same literacy problems that occur in Thailand and Indonesia, namely the desire to low level of ability to learn new things. So in Thailand there is a KwS or "Knowledge with Society" policy.
Dr. Muhammad Faizal bin A Ghani emphasized that culture studied is transmittive, continuous and cumulative, consistent and integrated, dynamic and adaptive, satisfying, and culture varies from one society to another .
Then, Desika Mardiani Putri, S.Pd., M.Pd. focused on the role of literacy culture in building student learning independence at FIP UNESA. "Literacy in the era of society 5.0 consists of components such as, reading and writing literacy, arithmetic, science, digital, financial and cultural literacy," he said.
It is hoped that after holding the webinar moderated by Muhammad Nurul Ashar, S.Pd., M.Ed. This strengthens ongoing collaboration between Surabaya State University, University of Malaya and Khon Kaen University. []
