Unesa.ac.id, Surabaya – In order to improve the ability of teachers in the fields of scientific writing and research as well as improve the quality of teachers in writing, the Community Service Team from the Indonesian Language and Literature Department held a Scientific and Popular Article Writing Training for Middle School Teachers in West Surabaya. The training event itself was held on Saturday (4/9) online.
This training event presented several expert speakers from the field of writing such as Prof. Dr. Setya Yuwana, M.A., Dr. Budinuryanta, M.Pd., Dr. Anas Ahmadi, M.Pd., Prima Vidya Asteria, S.Pd., M.Pd. and Arie Yuanita, S.S., M.Sc. This event itself was attended by about 25 participants from junior high school teachers in West Surabaya.
Arie Yuanita as the head of the PKM team said that this PKM was made possible thanks to the collaboration between the PKM Team from the Indonesian Language and Literature Department and SMP Jalinan Adisiswa Cemerlang. He revealed that to become a professional teacher with superior competence, writing is one of the skills that must be mastered by a teacher, both scientific and popular writing.
The same thing was also expressed by Dwi Yuliastini, S.Pd., M.Si. the principal of SMP Jalinan Adisiswa Cemerlang, he revealed that the purpose of this event itself is of course to improve writing skills for junior high school teachers, especially Indonesian language teachers. "So our goal is to learn together, so that it can be even better to create a portfolio that is certainly beneficial for all of us," he said.
On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Setya Yuwana, M.A., discussed scientific research and writing scientific articles, in this case Setya Yuwana explained the purpose of the research itself. "Research is to gain knowledge, not just to collect data and experience," he explained. While Dr. Budinuryanta, M.Pd., in his presentation discussed the discussion of results, propositions, and explanations. In this case, he discusses in depth the limitations and substance, discussion of the types and forms of propositions, and the substance of explanations. Dr. Anas Ahmadi, M.Pd., discussed how to write popular writings, while Arie Yuanita, S.S., M.Si discussed editing techniques and Prima Vidya Asteria, S.Pd., M.Pd. regarding plagiarism.
After the presentation of the material was finished by the speakers, the participants were given the task of writing scientific writings and popular articles. "Hopefully this activity can provide benefits for all of us as educators, so that we can always develop ourselves to become more professional teachers," said Arie Yuanita. (has/vin)
