Unesa.ac.id. SURABAYA–Faculty of Education (FIP) Surabaya State University (UNESA) welcomed the 79th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia in an unusual and surprising way, on Wednesday, 14 August 2024.
Located at the FIP Hall, Campus 2 Lidah Wetan, Surabaya, the entire FIP academic community gathered in their distinctive purple sports uniforms, complete with white hats depicting the Independence Day theme, ready to take part in various unique competitions prepared by the committee.
Dean of FIP UNESA, Mochamad Nursalim, enthusiastically opened this event. According to him, in fulfilling independence, UNESA, including FIP, continues to do its best for Indonesia. FIP celebrates Independence Day with various activities which are a form of gratitude as well as a commitment to ensuring that the Republic of Indonesia continues to progress, develop and be cultured.
"Hopefully at the age of 79, the Republic of Indonesia will continue to progress and be strong. The spirit of nationality and independence must continue to be encouraged through activities like this. "This spirit of independence must also color our performance at UNESA and FIP, so that we can continue to progress and achieve in supporting the vision of a Golden Indonesia 2045," he said.
The Dean of FIP and his staff emphasized that this August activity is not only a form of gratitude, but also to strengthen the brotherhood of the entire FIP family.
Event opens with great fanfare, especially when the first race started in the form of hooking a basket on the head to a hanging wire. The lecturers, who usually look serious when teaching, this time seemed to be having difficulty and clumsily trying to attach the baskets they were wearing to the wire.
Their funny and spontaneous expressions, from faces full of concentration to awkward body movements, making the atmosphere more lively and filled with laughter. Apart from the basket linking competition, the event continued with holahop relay competitions, cardboard shaking, word charades and bottle bowling.
The atmosphere became even more exciting when the cardboard shaking competition started. The lecturers, who are usually strict in front of the class, this time had to dance and jump up and down while taking out balls from cardboard boxes, provoking laughter from all the participants.
The competition to tie a wire with a basket on the head colors the commemoration of the 79th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia at FIP.
FIP Students who was also the event committee expressed his positive impression. "The impression and message is, I hope this competition will be more successful in the future," said Dedi with a big smile, imagining the funny moments when the lecturers were confused about guessing the words from their team's body movements.
No less interesting, The janitor mothers also didn't want to miss the moment. They enthusiastically participated so that the atmosphere became even warmer. There are no more divisions between positions, there is only laughter and a spirit of togetherness.
These competitions are an unforgettable event for the entire FIP Unesa academic community. Apart from strengthening solidarity, this event also creates exciting moments that will be remembered for a long time. Independence is not only about struggles in the past, but also about how we create happiness and togetherness in the present.[]
