SURABAYA – National Team star Marselino Ferdinan visited his beloved campus, Surabaya State University (Unesa), Thursday (16/5/2024). Marselino did not come alone, he was accompanied by his professional colleague, Hugo Samir, to meet the Dean of the Faculty of Sports and Health Sciences (FIKK Unesa) in the Dean's room of the Unesa Lidah Wetan Surabaya Campus.
According to the Coordinator of the Sports Coaching Education Undergraduate Study Program, Dr Or Muhammad, S Pd, M Pd, Marselino Ferdinan and Hugo Samir are currently in their second semester. “Their college progress is in line with what they would do as professional athletes. "Hopefully they can graduate according to the target, and thankfully it will only take 3.5 years," he explained, greeted by Marselino's happy smile.
Marselino said that his visit this time was done as a form of his responsibility as a FIKK Unesa student. "I happen to be on holiday from the competition in Belgium, and now I'm still taking a break ahead of the training camp towards the continuation of the pre-world cup matches against Iraq and the Philippines, next June," he said.
"I also want to meet my classmates in the Study Program directly. "Coaching, because all this time I had to defend KMSK Deinze in Belgium, so I couldn't receive normal lectures like them," he said again.
Regarding his football career, the U-23 national team player who recently performed impressively in the competition The Asian Cup confirmed that he would continue his career in the European league. He said that having a career in a European league really helped him because the climate and competition were different from those at home. "I will still have a career in Europe," he said when met during lunch.
The Dean of FIKK Unesa, Dr Dwi Cahyo Kartiko, S Pd, M.Kes appreciated Marselino's achievements while strengthening the U23 National Team. He said that Marselino's game seemed to be improving and was contributing greatly to the national team. “We are also proud of the current national team which is able to display beautiful and entertaining football. In fact, we at Unesa always hold a celebration when the National Team plays. "The public is also enthusiastic about watching every National Team match until the early hours of the morning," he explained.
Apart from that, the lecturer who is familiarly called Cahyo wants the potential of athletes like Marselino to be developed and transmitted. He hopes that in the future the coaches in the future will come from professional athletes, so that when coaching football they must know the basics of how to actually kick a ball. "Marselino is very talented, and in the future we hope that his potential can be transferred to others, either as a coach or lecturer," added Cahyo.
Meanwhile, David Agus Prianto, S.Pd., M.Pd lecturer who directly supervised Marselino and Hugo, admitted that he was very happy with the achievements of his two foster children. Both of them have been known since they played at the Real Madrid Academy Sidoarjo. Both of their talents are very outstanding. "So when there was an opportunity to study at FIKK Unesa, I recommended them. "For a year now, both of them have been students of the Coaching Study Program," he concluded proudly. @sir
