uesa.id. (Unesa), Bobby Ade Setiawan and Muhammad Arja Bahauddin, received the honor to join as part of the official team of the Indonesian Volleyball Association (PBVSI) U21.
Both are trusted to carry out an important role in the national team that is preparing to face various international championships.
Bobby Ade Setiawan: From Volleyball UKM Statistics to the National Team
Bobby Ade Setiawan was appointed as the PBVSI PUTRINNAS PUTRINAS TEAM PUTRIS PUTRI U21. His journey in the world of volleyball statistics began actively in the UNESA volleyball student activity unit (UKM).
He gained his initial experience as a statistical committee in the AVC ASEAN Volleyball Championship event. His interest in this field is growing when he began to explore statistics and get the opportunity to train.
In 2019, Bobby joined the Proliga Putra Samator Statistics Team and continued until 2024 with the Valcon team, which is predicted to be part of the Indonesian national team. Although Valcon did not qualify for Proliga 2025, he still gained the confidence to become an Indonesian statistical team, especially in the U21 category.
"The task of specializing in the statistical team is to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the opposing team to develop a better strategy.
He hopes his contribution can help improve the team's performance and continue in efforts to improve and develop Indonesian volleyball. Bobby also highlighted the various support of UNESA in printing professional staff in the world of sports.
"Unesa has a big role in the development of sports through solid facilities and cooperation. Hopefully, hopefully the continuity of the program can be maintained so that the regeneration of talents in the field of sports statistics can run better," he added. Meanwhile, Muhammad Arja Bahauddin was appointed as Physical Trainer in the PBVSI Putra Putra U21. He was unable to cover up his happiness for this opportunity, because volleyball has become a big part of his life since middle school.
"Even though I myself do not become an athlete because of various factors, my mindset if I can't become a player, then I can become a coach," concluded Arja.
His journey as a physical trainer began in 2023 when trusted to handle the Samator team at the Livoli event.
His experience continued to grow until 2024 he joined as Physical Trainer Jakarta Livin Mandiri in Proliga 2024 and participated in international training at the Universities Strength and Conditioning Association (IISCA).
Another memorable experience is when he was trusted to accompany the BHQ Cambodia team in a training session at Sentul Bogor Volleyball Padepokan for three months.
On March 8, 2025, Arja received an official decree from PBVSI to join the U21 Pelatnas team. "I honestly did not expect and very happy to be able to collaborate and provide the best for this team," he said.
As Physical Trainer, Arja is responsible for developing physical training programs that are tailored to the needs of players, minimizing the risk of injury, and coordinating with head coaches and athletes.
He hopes his role can improve the player's performance and provide a deeper understanding of the importance of physical training in the volleyball world.
"The main target is to ensure the team's readiness to the World Cup Volleyball in China on 18-31 August 2025. Hopefully with our contribution in the PBVSI U21 Pelatnas, Indonesia's volleyball achievements will increase in the international arena," concluded Arja. [*]
