Unesa.ac.id., SURABAYA—The Indonesian U-23 National Team will face Iraq for the opportunity to go to the Paris Olympics 2024. The match for third place in the U23 Asian Cup or 2024 AFC Cup will take place at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium on Thursday (2/5/2024) starting at 22.30 WIB.
For the U-23 National Team which is also being strengthened by a student from the Faculty of Sports and Health Sciences (FIKK), namely Marselino Ferdinan Philipus, UNESA continues to provide full support to its students.
UNESA Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Nurhasan, M.Kes., said that there was some support provided, such as continuing to maintain communication through a team of lecturers who were appointed to provide motivation so that Marselino and the national team squad were even more enthusiastic about winning this crucial match.
"When Marselino helped Indonesia win soccer gold at the 2023 SEA Games, we gave him a free college scholarship at UNESA. So, now, we are also offering a Masters scholarship. After graduating from Bachelors, you can continue your Masters -2 more, scholarships. Then, if you have a master's degree, we will offer you a lecturer at UNESA for your role in strengthening the national team in the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup," said the chancellor who is familiarly called Cak Hasan.
UNESA, continued Cak Hasan, requires lecturers who have competence and experience in the field of sports. Students who play for the national team, like Marcelino, for example, have experience on the world football stage, which can strengthen the sports sector at UNESA.
Meanwhile, the Dean of FIKK, Dr. Dwi Cahyo Kartiko, S.Pd., M.Kes., said that his party, through a team of appointed lecturers, also maintained communication to strengthen the mentality and motivate Marselino and his friends from the start.
"We will of course continue to carry out that communication, be it video call or via chat. Yes, we continue to strengthen it, so that Marselino et al can focus on winning match and give your best for the important match later," he said.
He added, although there were other opportunities, this match against Iraq was a golden opportunity for the Indonesian national team to get a ticket to the Olympics.
According to the dean, this opportunity must be utilized well. The hope is that the Indonesian national team can win the match and be able to meet other countries such as Argentina at the Olympics.
"When will we get the opportunity to play with a mega star like Lionel Messi for example? We will pray together, so that the national team can get maximum results. Don't miss the playoffs," he said.< /p>
In order to make it easier to defeat other teams in the AFC Cup, Merselino asked for support from the UNESA chancellor and his staff, the FIKK dean and his staff, as well as the entire UNESA family.
