Visitors capture moments in the Sinesthesia international design exhibition space at the Surabaya Youth Hall.

SURABAYA— Visual Communication Design (DKV) Bachelor's Study Program, Faculty of Languages and Arts (FBS), Surabaya State University (UNESA) became the center of attention at the Surabaya Youth Hall through the 7th Synesthesia International Design Exhibition which was held on Friday, November 22 2024. < /p>
The exhibition, which will last for three days until Sunday, November 24 2024, carries the theme "Boomerang: Find Your Why, Make Your Way!." It displays various works from five countries: Indonesia, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the United States.
This exhibition pampers visitors with the results of creative exploration in the form of photography, illustration, videography, branding, and even the creative work of students DKV UNESA, local and international designers reflect the journey of their artists' ideas.
"Synesthesia is not a final assignment exhibition, but rather an international exhibition with various works from within the country and abroad," said Marsudi, UNESA DKV Undergraduate Study Program Coordinator.
He emphasized the importance of this event as a platform for students to expand their networks and showcase their creativity at a global level.
This international cast was filled with visitors from various circles, students, university students and the general public.
Various interesting activities also liven up the atmosphere , starting from synestage, clinic booth design, to announcing the winners of the Synesthesia competition. Art lovers can also take home exclusive merchandise from the Sinestesia 7 booth.
Sinestesia 7 also presents a talk show with the theme The Foundation of Personal Branding< /em> and workshop entitled Expression in Creation Logo which provides new insights for participants about art and design.
Vice Chancellor IV for Planning, Development, Cooperation, and Information and Communication Technology, Martadi explained the deep philosophy being promoted, namely "You determine the path for you, and at some point you will all be yourself," he said.
He added, Synesthesia 7 provides an opportunity for students to reflect on their creative journey, while encouraging them to find the 'why' and take the 'way' that according to their respective dreams.
He appreciated the committee's consistency in continuing to present Synesthesia every year. He hopes that Synesthesia will continue, because this exhibition is meaningful for students, namely as a place for self-actualization, building relationships, and strengthening soft skills.
He also hopes that the works displayed can registered for copyright. "Not only as an exhibition, but also to build self-branding and add to student portfolios," he added.
Synesthesia 7 was opened by UNESA Deputy Chancellor IV and attended by the leadership of FBS, PUI Arts and Culture, study program coordinators and UNESA DKV lecturer.
Among the various works on display , Martadi highlights a classic medieval illustration that has been manually processed into a contemporary context. For him, the work connects history with current trends.
Apart from that, there are also several children's books that raise global issues in an interactive and very interesting way. This work deserves to be marketed more widely.
Heny Subandiyah, representing the dean of FBS, hopes that this activity will remain sustainable with different characteristics from year to year. There must be more work from abroad, if necessary it could be from more than five countries.
Not only exhibiting works, this exhibition supported by PUI UNESA Arts and Culture 7 also becomes a forum for cross-cultural collaboration and inclusivity. [*]
