Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA-During the pandemic, the marketing reach and income of MSMEs experienced a drastic decline. This is also what Sripit SMEs feel as a producer of Trenggalek's typical snacks. In order to increase the productivity and marketing reach of these MSMEs, UNESA Lecturers recently carried out technology transfer and the design of appropriate machines.
Technology designed by UNESA lecturers; Diah Wulandari, S.T., M.T., Dr. Andre Dwijanto Witjaksono, S.T., M.Sc., and Rindu Puspita Wibawa, S.Kom., M.Kom. It is in the form of a mixer machine that is used as a mixer for making Alen-alen dough. The design of the machine uses an electro-motor propulsion device to facilitate the production process of alen-alen which previously still used hands and was completely manual.
"We specially designed the mixing machine and alen-alen printer, so that the production of partner MSMEs (MSME Sripit, ed) is much faster, quality is maintained, more hygienic and standardized. So, time and energy and resources are getting much more effective and efficient," said Diah Wulandari.
The lecturer's efforts through PKM also target the management and marketing aspects of Sripit SMEs. Diah Wulandari said that from the results of observations, these MSMEs do not yet have a business financial accounting system. So that the company's finances with family finances are mixed into one. Business developments are finally difficult to monitor.
In addition, the packaging system is still manual, the appearance is still not attractive, even the packaging has not been able to maintain product durability. Then, marketing still uses the old way, such as relying on a word of mouth system. The level of market reach during the pandemic has decreased by about 60 percent.
For this reason, UNESA lecturers provide training and assistance on financial bookkeeping to partners and product packaging to marketing strategies by utilizing social media or digital technology-based methods. Diah said that the machine to facilitate the partner's production process had been handed over and the assistance would continue to be carried out on an ongoing basis.
"We from UNESA are also assisted by the Trenggalek Cooperatives and MSME Service, just want to help partner MSMEs to grow and develop as the economic backbone of rural and district communities, especially in Trenggalek," he said.
He hopes that with the transfer of technology and the use of appropriate technology, Sripit MSMEs can be more advanced. And, alen-alen as a typical Trenggalek snack is increasingly being widely known by the public in various regions. "Hopefully, if people go to Trenggalek, what they are looking for is the alen as souvenirs," hoped the UNESA Mechanical Engineering lecturer. [UNESA PR]
