Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA - Students and alumni of the State University of Surabaya design an application for people with disabilities and caregivers. The application, named Inclupedia, is claimed to be the first mobile apps-based disability service in Indonesia.
Ahmad Abdullah Zawawi, Inclupedia's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) explained that this application is here to help parents or people with disabilities in conducting assessments and consultations about 'disability'. There are three priority services carried by the application.
First, an assessment service in which it can detect the severity of disability, both visual, hearing, motor, physical, emotional, autism, slow learners to learning difficulties.
Second, consulting services that are directly connected to a number of specialists for children with special needs. Third, job vacancy information services for persons with disabilities. “This service bridges friends with disabilities with job vacancies that match their potential and needs (disability, ed). The goal is to channel the talents of children with disabilities so that they can work according to their competencies,” he explained.
The application, he continued, was launched last May at Excelso Westown Wiyung, Surabaya. Inclupedia is available on the Play Store and can be used on devices with both Android and iOS operating systems. "For the development of this application, we passed and received funding from the Young Pertamina Foundation (PF Muda). Hopefully this can be useful for the community, especially friends with disabilities," he said.
Head of the UNESA MBKM Unit, Dr. Muhammad Sholeh, M.Pd., appreciated the innovation of students and alumni who were able to present the application. According to him, the innovation is a manifestation of the commitment of students and alumni in responding to problems that exist in the community.
One of the problems of mutual concern is the issue of disability, both in terms of accessibility and empowerment. “Inclupedia is one of the breakthroughs and solutions for disability problems in Indonesia. This is certainly useful and very helpful for the community, especially friends of inclusion,” he said.
Amazingly, the application received financial support from Pertamina. For him, obtaining funding from Pertamina is not easy. Participants must enter the selection and compete with thousands of other teams.
"Congratulations guys. This is amazing. It's a cool app. Don't be complacent and don't stop innovating. Continue to maintain and develop this application to the further development stage. Problems in the field need a touch of young hands who are creative, innovative and solution-like like these friends (the developers of Inclupedia, ed)," he said.
Ahmad Abdullah Zawawi continued, Inclupedia will continue to be developed and monitored regularly. In the future, the features will certainly continue to be refined so that the service can be more widespread and reach many partners and users. "Hopefully this application can still exist 5, 10, even 20 years into the future," he hoped.
For your information, Inclupedia, was born from the hands of a group of young people consisting of; Cahyo Febri Wijaksono from Education Management, Dwi Ardiansyah also from Education Management, Venna Arzika Humaida from Psychology, Muchammad Daffa Maulana from State Administration, Adam Putra Fatchurrahman alumni of the Faculty of Education (FIP), Ahmad Abdullah Zawawi and I Gusti Ayu Agung Istri Risna Prajna Devi also FIP alumni and Tri Okta Argarini ITS alumni.
