Unesa.ac.id. SURABAYA--In order to increase student participation in the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections, the East Java General Election Commission (KPU) and UNESA through the Directorate of Student and Alumni Affairs held a socialization on the election of the governor and deputy governor of East Java at the Auditorium, 11th floor, Rectorate, Campus 2 Lidah Wetan, Friday, November 1 2024.
This activity, which was attended by 150 students, carried the theme "Increasing Student Participation in the 2024 East Java Governor and Deputy Governor Election."
Representatives from the East Java KPU, Eka Wisnu Wardhana invited students to participate in the democratic party.
"Don't abstain. "Come to the polling station and choose your candidate pair objectively and wisely, taking into account their background and work vision and mission," he said.
He hopes to collaborate in the field of research with UNESA in the future. Both research in the fields of democracy, literacy politics, and other related fields
Muhamad Sholeh, Director of Student and Alumni Affairs at UNESA, added that it is hoped that the role of students in the elections will have a good impact on Indonesia, especially the East Java region.
"Hopefully "There are no students who abstain, because as the nation's next generation we can determine good leaders who care about education," he said.
As a resource for outreach, M. Farid Ilhamuddin invited young people not to choose the wrong regional leaders. He also invited young people to exercise their right to vote.
He invited representatives of each student to voice their hopes for their respective regional leadership candidates.
Felisa Oktaviani, a Guidance and Counseling student Sidoarjo, said that political education like this is important for the younger generation to become more aware of their political rights.
Nabila, a Guidance and Counseling study program student from Mojokerto Regency, also said that KPU Goes to Campus makes it easier for students. learn more about the meaning of elections and not to abstain, because students are agents of change for the nation's future.[*]
