Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA–The East Java Indonesian Petanque Sports Federation (FOPI East Java) has set a high target for the XXI National Sports Week (PON), 2024. They are determined to win a number of medals, and even become the overall champion. This was conveyed by the management of FOPI and KONI of East Java in a Working Meeting (Raker) which was held on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at the 11th Floor Auditorium of the Rectorate Building, Lidah Wetan Campus, Surabaya.
The working meeting was attended by the Daily Chair of the East Java KONI Muhammad Nabil and his staff, the General Chair of the East Java FOPI Pengprov Prof. Dr. Nurhasan, M.Kes, Head of FOPI East Java Dr. Nur Cholis, M.Pd and his staff and representatives of the FOPI management from various regions of East Java.
Muhammad Nabil said that KONI and FOPI should start planning new targets to be achieved in PON 2024. “Although Petanque is a new sport, it has already won 11 medals. This medal is not something that is easy to obtain. However, because of the will and commitment it can be achieved. This needs to be added in the future, because it requires the seriousness of the federation, coaches and athletes," he said.
Prof. Nurhasan added, to achieve future targets, in the working meeting with the theme 'FOPI East Java Forward and Achievement for East Java Gold', appropriate and efficient strategies need to be drawn up. The main thing is the formula for selecting and developing athlete talent which is prepared in the future for FOPI East Java with achievements and East Java with excellence. "Hopefully we can get as many gold medals as possible in PON later, and even become the overall champion," hoped Cak Hasan.
A lash of enthusiasm came from Nur Cholis who invited all FOPI management to show their best performance for the advancement of Petanque East Java and Indonesia in the future. “We must seize this opportunity as well as possible. With our cooperation and commitment together, God willing, the future target can be achieved," he said.
He invited all management to keep the spirit in improving performance. Capabilities and approaches must continue to be honed and refined from time to time. Because competition is always evolving and dynamic. To achieve a bigger target, of course, requires a big effort and a more precise strategy. "FOPI East Java certainly can. Focus on work and targets, the process will not betray the results," he said. [UNESA PR]
