Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA-Teachers are required to be creative and innovative in designing and implementing learning. To be skilled, teachers must continue to be trained and mentored regularly. That is what the UNESA FBS PKM team did through interactive learning media training for English MGMP teachers at junior high schools in Surabaya. The training was carried out in stages starting last July 30 and ending on August 9, 2021, involving around 30 participants.
The UNESA English Language and Literature PKM team consisted of Sumarniningsih, S.Pd., M.Pd as chairman and Henny Dwi Iswati, SS, M.Pd., Ayunita Leliana, SS, M.Pd., Yuri Lolita, S.Pd. ., M.Pd., Esti Kurniasih, S.Pd., M.Pd., and Fithriyah Inda Nur Abida, SS, M.Pd as members.
Sumarniningsih stated that the training was an effort to improve teacher skills in the use of application-based interactive learning media. According to him, the ability to use media is important for teachers to master, because it can determine the quality of the learning process and outcomes.
"Good learning must be able to arouse enthusiasm and encourage students to be active, interactive and communicative," he said. In addition, it is also an effort to provide technical instructions on how to use existing application-based interactive media. "With this, we want to motivate teachers to keep their enthusiasm in educating and in presenting a fun learning and learning atmosphere," he said.
He said the training used interactive media applications, including Quizziz, Jamboard and Flipgrid. The program was given to the MGMP English Junior High School teachers in Surabaya in stages in several meetings starting from presentations, mentoring and simulations.
The PKM program ended with a competition for the use of interactive media applications where teachers were asked to develop a learning process in their respective online classes using interactive learning media provided by the PKM team. He hopes that teachers are skilled in designing and implementing effective and efficient learning, including being able to take many alternates in utilizing interesting and interactive learning media according to the objectives, materials and characteristics of students.
